The leader of the others, aka him, is Jack's father. He is still alive, and is actually Locke's brother, making Locke, Jack's uncle
Charlie and locke get killed by henry gale in 'the war'.

everytime i tell a friend the story that she was in the mental ward (if they haven't wtached the episode yet) i get chills.

Question : The directors, when they showed that Libby was in the mental ward with Hurley, does this prove "Ok, hurley really did know her from somewhere" or that it really was in Hurley's mind, that the island really was like fake.

How they again refer to the numbers:
Hurleys psychiatrist says "that dock was only fit to hold 8, not 23, it wasn't your fault they died!" 8... 23.. lol

The story with this, is that the big smoke cloud that Eko sees is the "monster." And being a "monster", it goes around and takes memory photos and information of past events going on in the persons life, if it targets you. This is why when Eko went face to face with it, there were flashing images of his brother and friends in the cloud of smoke. Kinda cool, eh? But, how does Vincent (walts dog) come into play? Well, everytime somethign bad happens to a "good guy" (jack's crew), Vincent is seen before, and after. Basically, i think that while Vincent goes running around the jungle, he comes in contact with the Monster, and therefore gives what he's been seeing, aka information about where someone went to take a "hike" or an adventure to earlier that day.
