i did something really stupid

i microwaved a stick of gum on a gum wrapper on a napkin.

in my dorm room

i saw it catch on fire inside the microwave. and i freaked out.

luckily, the microwave doesn't let new oxygen in, so the fire died. i just hope nothing is broken or i'll be fined a ton.

now i need to know how to clean it up.
if anyone has done shit as stupid as this, i ask you how did you deal with it?

once it caught on fire i must have been staring at it for 5 seconds until i pressed the 'stop/clear' button. then i let it sit for a few minutes while i was freaking out and hoping the smoke alarm wouldn't go off (sprinklers). i opened it and threw some water in to make sure the fire was killed. now i don't plan on opening it for a few hours. my roommate might though, and that would suck.

Cops did this a while back, he put a fast food burger with tinfoil wrapping into the microwave and it caught on fire and there was some arching. It burnt a hole in the plastic on the side.

I think we just soked the glass plate in soap and water for a while and everything was fine. I remember on that show Mythbusters they were doing some tests with microwaves and they found that doing this damages the microwave's internal workings and lowers its life span.

weeellll....i've been studying all day for my midterms and it seemed like a fun thing to do.

because in someone else's room they had a sun chips bag that was totally shrunken to like 2 inches. i thought it would have a similar effect but i wasn't thinking straight.

speaking of putting neat stuff in microwaves, if you put a CD in a microwave, it will completely fry the shiny layer in a blaze of small sparks - it also destroys ALL the data on the disc better than any CD shredder could.
