the future of the NBA is going to have 7 foot point gaurds and more than 50% of the players will be out of the country. I remember reading an article on ESPN.com about how American doesn't teach the right fundamentals e.g. to not bring the ball down right after you rebound it (watch Ming when he rebounds it).
Some players from the U.S. are taught the fundamentals. Meng outlets the ball cuz he's their center. You don't see Shaq runnin the ball down the floor do you?? Lol, wait, one time I did see him do it. Was stolen from him. The guards won't get that tall, but yes the positions will start to see more and more foreigners in there. The U.S. basketball players are taught the fundamentals till about college when it really starts to matter. Then the emphasis is standing out. Showing your talent, which to most kids nowadays is how many points you can score in a game and how many games you can do that in. Assists and other small things like screens and outlets and things like that aren't put to use much anymore. Jason Kidd is the only person I see in the NBA that is an all around fundamentals kind of basketball player. Sure his shit is flashy sometimes. But I think that he's proved himself to be able to put those kind of passes up there and make them work on a consistant level.
Do not try to remove fly from friends head with hatchet!
Development in the college level (and at all levels, come to think of it) also depends on the school. The Tarheels usually have been fundamentally sound, and that is a credit to their coaching staff.
