what are some online multiplayer games i can play with dial-up?

i'm stuck with dial-up internet access for the foreseeable future. any of you guys and gals know of some multiplayer online games that won't make my telephone wires scream in writhing, agonizing pain?

subspace is getting realllly fucking boring, so i need something else to pass the time between not sleeping and never sleeping.

Hmm, I would suggest web-based games but even then you're at a disadvantage, and they suck.

I guess you could try Ragnarok Online (with some free server) but again, disadvantage.

Ah man that sucks. If you're into Pool/Snooker or any other billiards game, take a look at 'Carom3d' I think its pretty awesome and the player community is growing pretty rapidly, they're even sponsored by Samsung.

I used to play mud games on dialup when the lag was too great for subspace, but they are not for everyone :)

If anyone cares, the mud I played most was Discworld Mud . I returned a bit over the summer when I had time and they have updated it quite a bit. Newer clients will let you click on exit names, read the rooms in glorious color and other fun stuff. iirc, discworld mud is coming up on its 15th year running.

anarchy online works fine on dial-up. Other than ss, it's the only online game I've got into. The download would probably take 2 days though.

supposedly you should be able to play guild wars on dial-up. the patches are integrated into your login, so it might get annoying when you want to play. it costs about 45$ in canada, but no monthly fees.

there are plenty of turn based games but most seem similar and i don't like them after a while.

You can play things like poker, chess and other borded games like risk in real time easy enough.

but as far as real time games like ss i don't know. I Would be interested though so i hope some other more knowledgeable ppl post here
