  • Graduate School

I feel really old writing this, but I've decided to go to grad school and spend more money instead of joining the work force... anyone here going (or has gone) to grad school and what did you do?

I'm trying to get a masters in fine arts (MFA) or a masters in IST. Which ever one I can get into, i guess.

What the heck is a MFA or IST? Do these degrees even do anything?

I would have chosen to do the same. I'm currently planning on four years for my bachelor's degree (maybe closer to five) and an additional year for my master's degree in the same field (Aerospace Engineering). I contend that it's easier to do it this way since once you get into the work force you find a routine, maybe want to start a family and settle down. I guarantee you won't want to go back to school once all that starts happening.

I agree with Epi though, wouldn't an MBA serve you best if you're going into finance?

Pretty sure anyone who knows anything about getting an MFA knows what it stands for, Bio.

Edit: And since fit is posting his post grad plans, what the hell: MEng in CS from Cornell, possibly/hopefully an MFA in English from anywhere I can get in.

IST means for Information Sciences and Technology. I actually said what MFA stands for in the 1st post.

So like you're going to be studying art history or something? Or doing paintings?
