Geometry in Ct is taken by 9th grade, Algebra usually is taken in 8th. I believe there's some sort of test you can take to take Pre-algebra in 6th, algebra in 7th and geometry in 8th.

Vert, do you go to IC? or Cornell?

Paul, I think they base it on the CMTs and the individual math tests.

All I know is, I took Algebra II in 9th Grade, Trig/Pre-Calc 10th grade (Last year) and now I'm taking AP Stats.

Most people I know took it either 8th or 9th grade. There is a lower lever math that does Geometry in 10th grade. Remedial math was 11th grade geometry. That is all.

Isn't there a difference between College and University in America or am I wrong on that one?

Yea, it's the ACT. And it's not just our school, it's statewide. As for the 100th percentile... yea I didn't get that either. I guess I'm so good that I'm better than myself.

As for algebra/geometry, I took algebra in 8th and geometry in 9th which makes me 2 years ahead of where I should be. After this semester is over I'm transferring out of Algebra 2 into a harder class so I'll be 3 years ahead.

                HAHA OHIO SUCKS.

As of right now, I think I am one year ahead of the norm. Which is not really saying something, because most of the nerds are in AP Calc right now, but I opted out of that shit so fast.

                Thank you AP Stats.

There is, I think. From what I've heard College come after High school, and you get to specialise.

I have also heard that College is for those 17-19 years old, but could be wrong.

Generally speaking, no, there is not a difference. To the average American, the terms are interchangeable. However, I believe the true difference is that a University is four years, and a college is two.

oh ok. I thought college may have been some sort of precursor to university. Is it an alternative, instead?

Students that can't nab enough scholarship funds may opt to attend what's called a community college to get their general education requirements out of the way. Afterwards, if they find they're miserable at said community college, they will send a grade report to the university of their choice and move in the following semester.

Americans use the terms 'college' and 'university' interchangably. For instance, Harvard is referred to as a 'private college'.

Meanwhile, the term 'community college' generally refers to places that have 2-year courses usually in things that universities don't do (i.e. hotel management, art design, cooking, engine repair, etc.). Basically they do more 'practical' type training.

While it's possible to do both, generally either you go to university/college or you go to community college, and you do both of them after you complete high school.

**Note it's an American thing, not North American. In Canada 'college' = 'community college' and we use 'university' for universities.

P.S. PSATs are a joke. I got 1480 on it in grade 10 after taking it purely on a whim by deciding that I'd skip a few classes to write it.

Is this before or after the PSATs were out of 2400?
