You're talking about Jaïnism which is composed of 2 symbols.... which I forget the hand's meaning
the actual svastika symbol comes from the year 1000, when there was a group of christian knights who had it as a symbol... I forget what their name was... the nazis used this symbol afterwards. The jainist always had the symbol, but the meaning is completely different.

I do at high school, and it's actually a really interesting class.
A lot of social and political issues get debated in that class.Originally posted by ToneWomen who smoke cigarettes are sexy, not repulsive. It depends on the number smoked. less is better

i thought it was against the law to mix religion and school...
was it a elective class? i hope so..Ill-timed force will be ineffective; act with precision; timing is everything. Knowing where and when to strike is more important than strength; misapplied ability is disability. Unreasonable or undue force will defeat itself

(sry, I just finished religion exams lol)Originally posted by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SwastikaThe swastika is a holy symbol in Hinduism, Jainism, Heathenry and Buddhism.
Its true that Jainism's estimated origins began as far back as 3000 B.C. (http://www.umich.edu/~umjains/overview.html), but most religions at that time were all verbal, with no such thing as these symbols that we use today in these religions. Also the swastika symbol in all these religions represent the karmic cycles of birth, death, and reincarnation. So somewhere along the annals of the time, this symbol was established not by a single religion, but by society as a whole, which each respective religion has adapted towards their own specific teachings.
So to say that the "swastika" symbol belonged and began with Jainism, that isn't exactly correct.♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫

Religion is an obligatory course, so yah....
as for the svastika thingy, I couldn't care less about it's origins, because any kid could just draw that and say "look mommy, I invented a new symbol" ^-^Last edited by Hakaku; 01-23-2006, 12:42 PM.Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened.
