The Bloc will hold the balance of power, based on how the numbers look right now. That will create an interesting situation, as any time a party aligns itself with the Bloc on an issue, the others accuse them of cozying up with the Separatists, a stigma the Conservatives want to avoid if they feel they are at risk of another quick election.

Looking at the data, the Liberals lost almost exactly one million votes from the 2004 election. The Bloc might hold more influence in the House this time around, but they actually lost votes and seats. That gives the BQ more power, but at the same time dampens any hopes of a renewed surge of separatism. The NDP gained just 200,000 votes, but that translated to 10 more seats, something Jack Layton and our own little Spider should be pleased to see.

We had a minority government. The ruling party lost a confidence motion late last year which forced another election. This one also resulted in a minority government so there could be another election next year.

The Bloc could care less about Canada, East or West, Conservative or Liberal. If they hold the balance of power it will mean another election very soon.

Not after they lost votes in this election. They will need to build up some momentum first, otherwise they'll lose even more votes if they force another quick election.

Just face it, the only way conservatives will be able to make a decision is by :
-getting support from the NDP and / or Bloc Québecois
                -getting support from 1 independent
-and getting support from a minimum of 1 liberal

This minority government won't last long, and plus, Paul Martin won't be running in the next elections, so the liberals might have a chance to regain power.

And as for the Bloc Québécois, they're goal is to have seats in the parliament so that Québec's voice can be heard... which also means they're for seperatism. As for anyone who doesn't speak french, I'd advise not criticizing the Bloc, because Québec has a lot of history that no english person would understand very well.

I'm pretty pissed at the NDP right now, what a bunch of frigging idiots. Why the fuck would you call for another election just to see a right wing government come to power. Wouldn't you get more done with a liberal goverment by working together and making some concessions and actually accomplishing something. Now you have left Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa unrepresented by the new conservative governmnet which will get nothing done. What a grand waste of time and money. Goood fucking job NDP, way to get 10 more seats and put us in a state of limbo.

Don't blame the NDP for that. Layton was basically painted into a corner to force an election. Do you honestly believe they wanted a Conservative government? If anyone's to blame, it's the Liberals for waging a poor campaign. They had a lead in the polls back in December.

We get it already, DTF, you don't care about Canada. You've more than made clear however that you do care about letting people know that you don't care about Canada. I don't know why that's important to you, but we get the message.

That's not what I was saying TK. Seeing as how both the USA and Canada need eachother for fiscial and trade alliances, I feel that whatever happens to the North of me effects the USA just as much as Canada.

The truth is, I was confused by your post. I thought it was witty to say "Eh?".

                            Sorry,

                                Whatever.

I feel bad that your country went to the Conservatives, because Conservatives have ruined mine.
