Mother 3 / Earthbound 2 Release Date Announced!

It is official: the RELEASE DATE, after TEN FLIPPING YEARS, is finally set in stone by the only man who can say so, Shigesato Itoi.

The following is the relevant section of Itoi-san's recent post on his website (translation by BabelFish):

Mother 3's release date has been set. It will be April 20th, 2006 (Thursday). At least it's spring. It'll go on sale before the start of Golden Week. We'll be doing an official announcement pretty soon, but this is the "final" date. Once the release date is set, there are no more additions of new specs or anything like that. We'll no longer be able to fiddle around with anything in the game, unless it's something especially important. It makes me a little sad, but I can't be selfish. Since it's GameBoy Advance software, that naturally means that you'll also be able to play it on the Nintendo DS that everyone's so crazy about these days.

I can't wait for it to come out in America, Earthbound was one of my favorite games of all time.

that guy, wasted opportunity looking over the silver clamshell of badassery, I suppose it is for broader appeal, but 5 million japanese know. oh well, I could always play the first one in 256x192 instead. odds are- same game anyways, but instead in hacked up english not japanese as I doubt they're ready for the second eartthbound failure, note earthbound not mother 2, mother 3 will undoubtedly sell amazingly well in sun riser land.
though, i wonder if halken is as involved in this one in some ways hopefully more so. if itoi had ishikawa do the track it would be worth getting, even if it's a remix of mother 2

yes, it is pretty much exactly the reason, but melee failed hard as a game but sickeningly it is devoured even to this day, I could puke several rivers for the disgust I have for that crap, but whatever sells i guess.

I like oldskool smash brothers better, melee has too much shit going on in all of the level backgrounds so you can't see yourself on a small tv

I also hate the power shot bullshit in mario tennis for gamecube

I agree, the new smash brothers sucks on a small tv, and I don't like all the extra attacks that are on it. I'd pull out my n64 ssb over that anyday.

I only play Smash Brothers when I'm drunk, but I still remember that NESS AND PIKACHU was fucking overpowered like Hulk on the N64.

I never met a pikachu, ness (or anyone spare for maybe a luigi or link) that I couldn't nail into the ground everytime with Falcon. If anyone is overpowered in that game it's him.

N64 or the one on Gamecube? All the characters on the GC is pretty balanced, except for Pichu, it's pure crap.

Falcon is like Zelda/Sheik, both is perfect in melee combat, I prefer Sheik though

Falcon was slow as shit though. But if you got off a Falcon Punch at full power.. OOH BOY U GUN GET IT

Hell yea, also in melee newbs (lol) could just use the C-stick to pull off half of the attacks in the game. So lame, much less skill required.

Je-wha? N64 = Ness ftw, I only had competition from Pikachu and a good Mario player when I was Ness. In melee they destroyed any good potential Ness had from the original so I had to switch from character to character

The people I've played with were never good with Falcon, he was too slow. In melee I don't mind using Gannandor once in awhile (Falcon clone) just because it's fun to do what I like to call " purple magic" (one-shotting with a kick or a punch).

Did you still use Falcon in Melee? Falc"o", Fox, Pikachu and a good Shiek player are the hardest opponents I've had.
