I think for most technologically and socially advanced parts of the world the health care system will be pretty good from education to equiment to methods of treatment. It may vary a bit for some.

What I find harsh and I guess less 'better' about the American health care system is that is isn't free. Right now if I needed a major surgery I would lose all my possessions, my parents would lose their house, cars and savings all to pay for it if: I was in the US. The only other option is I die. I don't see how that system allows for people to get ahead and be productive in society. It kinda tears the whole 'class income gap' a new asshole.

My grandpa lives in Texus 3/4 of the year and he was run over by a car a couple years back while visting. He sued though and got the car plus bills paid. When he needed to get to the hospital he told me 3 different private ambulance companies showed up, all gave different 'fair' rates. I hope this country never ends up like that and I wonder how it got to be that bad for the Americans.

Use the term Yank or as someone had mentioned in a different thread "Statesman" hehehe

In using this term...all my fellow neighboring Canadians & Mexicans are Americans too!

All I know is when I am abroad and asked where I am from, the reply is usually "your from the States" Not your from America :P

        O
I don't know of many Canadians who would accept "American" as a description for themselves. We would say "North American", but never call ourselves just "American". Citizens of the U.S.A. get labelled "American" because the word America is part of their country's name. Statesman doesn't really work either as it already has a regular meaning. It'd be like someone from the Dominican Republic calling himself a Republican. No, the name is usually associated with the geographic portion of their country's name.

But even for the poorer people the quality in our hospitals is excellent. The standards of becoming a doctor or getting into uni for that education are very high and it's very tough to get in. I have no problem being dead broke and needing to go to the hospital here, as opposed to being dead broke and needing to go to the hospital in America.

Basicly what this thread is doing, is giving the anti-america people more fuel.
          1. No.

          2. No. Compare the study points you need to get into medicine in Norway and get scared.

Most of our students go to other countries in Europe to study medicine (England, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Poland, Germany etc. prolly your country too), only the hardcore ones are able to stay in Norway.

We don't have the best healthcare system in the world after my opinion, even though we are in the top in rankings.

But I'm pretty sure that your country's healthcare system is crap compared to ours.

Technically speaking, all countries from North, Central and South America are americans. Technically speaking.

But, the US gained the title "America/american" because back a hundred years ago, when someone said "I am going to America" to start a new life, they usually went to the United-States. So it became a familiar name.

Canadians, Mexicans and "Americans" would be refered to North American.

Some people these days however are trying to stop the name American by calling them multiple names. But it's hard, because what would you think if we called you United-Statians? Doesn't really sound right.

So, in conclusion to this : The name american refers to the United-States. 99% of all Canadians and Mexicans would take offense to this. That's your fact.

-On a side note, I love my Canadian health care system. The best in the world! ^-^

Hey you know whats fun? Talking about health care in a health care topic, instead of a topic dealing with what we are thankful for.

              11) People that stay on topic
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

We're ranked higher than you about the healthcare system, I can't be bothered to find a ranking. I can safely say that we're higher ranked than you in everything possible.

Stop being a nationalist, your country is crap, even Germany is better than you. Germany is a great country btw.

Ratty, I never claimed that our healthcare system is better then some other, I have never claimed that our education is better then others, I only stated that it is top notch, and frankly I don't give a shit about norway, because as far as I know, only shitheads live there.
