One error I see more and more of every day is using an apostrophe before the s when making words plural, like "I bought some popsicle's at the store". I understand forgetting the apostrophe when making a word a possessive; that's just being forgetful. But to do it the other way around and add one where you don't need one, that shows a lack of understanding of how to write plural nouns, something that should be taught very early.

Oh, and something else that has bothered me is how Kolar keeps typing ect. when he really means etc., which is short for et cetera. I've been meaning to correct him for a while now, but I keep forgetting. He's been doing it for a while now.

None of that is worse however than the ever-growing belief that spelling doesn't matter because "it's on the Internet". The people who say that continue to say that they only put effort in writing for school. My view is that if you only use it for school then you aren't really learning how to write, you're just writing because they tell you to, but when you write for your own stuff, you forget what you learned. It also shows a lack of respect for the people who will be reading what you wrote. It says to them that they aren't important enough, maybe because they're on the Internet and are therefore somehow less "real".

What I fail to understand is why it matters, this is the internet, typing short hand is not being lazy, it's just easier. It's like texting people on mobile phones, who actually uses full spellings + punctuation in SMS Messages. The problem of students using the whole 'ur u r' shit in their school work is ridiculous, anyone with at least a basic level of intelligence should be able to distinguish when is the correct time to use abbreviated words, and when it is not, unless you look like this:

Edit: The one on the right is me
        Edit: joke
Edit: laugh out loud (trying hard not to abbreviate words so as not to cause offence)
        Edit: left*
1: Alokas Nakki> oli nammi nammi kakkua
        1: Fork off!> I don't speak that language
        1: Alokas Nakki> neither do I

I always try to type correctly, however if I make a typo, I don't really care about it. I am not gonna doublecheck my posts for a possible typo, wich I would do for school or in official letters or something. Besides that I have a mild form of dyslexi (sp?) so sometimes I think I typed something right and when I read it some other time I'll go like.. wtf was I thinking?

I only see a problem with it if you spell like that all the time. If you happen to drop " brb" or " ttyl " or something similar, I "dunno" why someone would find that infuriating. When you constantly use " ur " though, that just hurts my head. It may be the internet, it may not be a school assignment, but I honestly don't know how "ur" comes out every single time before "you're" or "you". The internet and Instant messaging didn't hit big until I was maybe 15 or so, so I guess by then I had already had it wired in my brain to type the word you fully out.

Question- Do they still make you learn how to write in cursive (sp?) in school? I remember that we were taught in third grade and kept it up in fourth grade, although around sixth grade it wasn't stressed as much. If kids are finding it a waste of time to fully type out you, do you even bother writing in cursive?

EDIT: I also noticed myself typing out "4th" grade instead of fourth, and so on. I don't think you're an idiot if you do this to save time, seeing as how I did it and I think I'm a badass american ninja pirate lumberjack.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

It's not just a Subspace thing...
yea stab i saw something about that, and it was a while ago too, kids are turning in papers in like middle school/high school even using 4->for, u->you, bc-> because, btw->by the way, etc. this one girl had almost every word shortened, it's kind of sad

but like, i'm confused why you'd get pissed off at someone without knowing any of the above. not everyone can live up to your standards, nor do they have to, so why not just feel satisfied that you're better than them? (that's honestly all I see you'd be getting at anyway...) <_<
