Recently more and more people have started adopting the internet forum persona's of other people. People have started typing completely in lower case and without any punctuation because they see other people doing it and find it funny. Various people look up to GHB so we've got a plague of fucking sorceror smilies and nonsensical threads. People have started deliberately mispelling words, although that gimmick's related to being stoned and nearly everyone who fails to correct a typo is not stoned. Its much funnier if you just be yourself and say something witty/interesting, rather than say what someone else might have said.

If we're interacting as a society, and the only means we have to converse is through text, then yes things like this matter as it alters your entire personality. If you adopt someone else's style then you have no personality of your own.

Look, I don't speak English or American, how I spell things is just how I feel like spelling them, yes, I sometimes sub in different characters, add some on, what not, but it's a matter or style to me, or like you said personality, not sure about when others do it, but I'm usually not trying to copy anyone else unless I'm straight out using the style of referrence. Though it may be hard to tell when I do this, it is my intention that it is clear. I can't do anything about the execution of this clarity if I didn't put it down right the first time when I wrote it.

But what if ... someone else adopted your style but those forum newbs could not tell who had created that style first. Does that mean you still does not have personality of you own even though you did but then someone stole it?

1. Good post, Zeus...although I think that every individuals' (WHERE DOES THE APOSTROPHE GO IN THIS CONTEXT?) sense of humor is molded by little bits and pieces of outside influence at some point.
