  • Spiderman 3

About a year and 2 months away. I'm looking forward to this movie. Any ideas about who's the main villain? What about plot?

I'm thinking Venom will be the main villian, but who knows.

    Post your thoughts here

It looks like the Sandman is coming out as a villain as well.

Sandman will be played by Thomas Haden Church, the guy from Sideways (formerly known as the guy from Wings). I always found his delivery a little wooden, but I can picture him as Sandman. There's an image of him in Sandman's usual green striped shirt and he looks like he stepped right off the comic book pages.

Topher Grace as Venom is an odd choice, but as Eddie Brock, he'd make a nice contrast with Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker. That combination looks more like the Ultimate Spider-man version of Brock than the original version who was a larger, more physical character. I think Venom will likely be the main villain because, if you've seen the early poster for the film released last month, Spider-man is pictured but his costume is all black.

With two villains it might seem hard to also fit the Green Goblin into the plot. One hint that he will be in it though is that IMDB lists Gwen Stacy as a character, and anyone who's a Spider-man fan knows what role she plays in the canon. Ron Howard's daughter Bryce is cast in the role, and though she is somewhat attractive, I can't picture her as Gwen Stacy yet. It's odd though that a red head is playing the blonde Gwen while a blonde (Kirsten Dunst) plays the red headed Mary Jane.

EDIT: go to IMDB for other details or to see the pictures I mentioned.

It is not confirmed that Topher Grace will be Venom, but it is not confirmed that he isn't either. Hopefully he won't be as scrawny as I see him in That 70's Show. OMG I would be so disappointed if he is but I said the same thing about Tobey Maguire before Spiderman 2.

I think we've all learned something new about TK, he's a comic book buff! Way to go.

I just like all the stuff that comes on TVs and theatres, but there's a little nostalgia from seeing something from a comic book for me.

And now, for my two cents, I think Ron Howard's daughter's very pretty. She did amazing in "The Village."

Yeah, Brock was a jock. Was he not? I would have prefered that to Topher Grace's skinny stature. I kind of disliked Spider-Man 2 because he took his mask of so god damn much. Whaaatever, I'm also excited for X-Men 3.

She's pretty but she isn't Gwen Stacy pretty.

Like I said before, the "Ultimate Spider-man" (that's a new re-telling of the Spider-man from the beginning but set in the 21st century) had Eddie Brock be a science major geek who was like Peter's big brother when they were kids. The Eddie Brock wasn't the tough guy the original was, but a skinny geek like Parker. In the original version, Brock was a reporter who got his reputation ruined after Spidey blew a huge hole in his big story. The Ultimate version has more of a personal relationship to Peter Parker, and if they had similar physiques and backgrounds, Venom becomes more like an example of what Spiderman could have become if he went evil.

Another theory going around is that this movie will be more about Spidey in the black symbiote suit and Eddie Brock won't become Venom until the end, setting him up to be the main villain in the next film.

Eddie was buff in the original comics because almost everyone was buff in the original comics. He looked like every other normal guy they drew until he was in the venom suit, that's when he became all distorted and crazy buff. Just like all the chicks except the mother figures wear size 1's and have teenage-firm C-cup boobies with lips that would make Angelina Jolie cry, almost all the guys in comics are drawn with flat abs, broad shoulders and chins like chisled marble.

Most likely Topher will work out a bit for the movie, I highly doubt (unless they go with what TK mentioned and want him to look geeky) that he will still be as skinny as he was in that 70's show. Let's not get our panties into a fit worrying about it, nothing will come of it so just chill and wait for the movie to come out.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

I swear I remember seeing Brock in a past Spiderman movie though, in JJ's office or something. Hmm.
