  • Where I am planning my next vacation...

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...i141225D51.DTL

Mexico's Congress approved a bill Friday decriminalizing possession of small quantities of drugs for personal use — including cocaine and even heroin — raising potential questions about joint U.S.-Mexican anti-narcotics operations.
Sweet, fancy Moses....The first thing this article made me think was:

"OMG WTF BBQ...ROADTRIP!!1! (trip being the operative word)"

Then the second thing I thought was trying to predict all the bullshit Time, Newsweek, Fox News, 20/20 and ABC Primetime specials this was going to inspire for summer vacation and Spring Break, and how the Evil Mexicans are trying to lure your daughters across the border so they can get raped.

What do you guys think? I mean, obviously the conservatives are going to make a huge issue out of this, since midterm elections are coming, and coupled with the whole Immigration+Build A Wall stuff going on...

Oddly enough I was watching Fox News this morning (for entertainment value) and they had some guy on to be interviewed, and they were actually supportive of this policy! I almost shat myself. I figured they would be railing against this with all their christian might. Go figure.

I wouldnt be so thrilled to have herion decrimialised or coke for that matter, but perhaps a few Bs and Cs would be alright, is it going to lead to like huge increase in prison time for anyone dealing?

i wonder what would happen if the goverment (any goverment) supported then sold drugs, i.e like fags. what would it be like, would it lead to just a socal implosion? or would it all work out fine since the govenerment could regulate and control and also from the tax/profit raised fund clinics and reb centres?

Mexico set to legalize personal amounts of pot, COCAINE, AND HEROIN

Well it looks like Mexico is taking a step backwards in terms of their anti-drug efforts with the United States in the past 20 years. I know other countries have passed legislation regarding personal pot use, but cocain and heroin? I'm sure, like other countries, that although it's legal to have an ounce or two on you for personal use, there's no real legal way to obtain it.

I dunno about an increase in prison time for dealers, but I don't think they're changing anything else, except where they are focusing their resorces, like Genocidal said.

And as far as if they would really say that, during the immigration problem that has been going on in Los Angeles and around the country, there were several of the conservative talk shows that were saying that Mexicans wanted to "take back California" by overthrowing the government, and saying that all the brown people are flooding over the borders by the thousands, trying to take our jobs and make everyone learn Spanish---basically trying to scare white America and make Mexicans look like terrorists and pillagers.

                          Fixed.

Edit: Actually, nevermind. I didn't absorb the clarifier. My bad. You're right, it's a step backward in the bullshit "war on drugs" but it's a huge step forward in social policy, IMO.

I, personally, think decriminilization is the way to go, especially if it's governmentally regulated.
