HOMM 2 was clearly the best so far. HOMM 5 looks like HOMM 3-4 with fancier graphics but basically no major changes to the game whatsoever. Boring.

HOMM 2 was fun, but way unbalanced.

Don't tell me that you didn't get raped if you didn't play Warlock with the Black Dragons or Wizard with the Titans. The top tier creatures in some of the other teams could'nt even match with the close to top tiers on the two teams mentioned.

HOMM 4 should never be mentioned together with 3, it's a totally different game, and it's shit.

HOMM 5 isn't exactly revolutionary, but the new skills are kinda exciting, it's still a good game even though it lacks a random map generator and lots of maps.

I think Castle was the strongest choice overall. Not a single weak or useless unit and arch angels were amazing. For some reason I had the most fun playing Fortress. I just liked the units and a lot of them had wacky abilities that could really change a battle (basilisk's stone gaze and gorgon's breath).

EWWW! I can't believe someone liked Fortress. All of the creatures are weak, only the Gorgon kicks ass with the disease thing.

Castle had the best creatures, loved the Zealot and Archangel.

2 free hits from the knights on Castle after the opponent has used its retaliation was pretty cheap/awesome.

But I liked Necropolis the best, people were no match in long games. Necromancy!

Rampart had it's positives to. Units were relatively cheap compared to their usefulness and the treasury was cool. The only weak units were dendroids and dwarves, but you could use them as meat sheilds.

I loved Rampart too, but the Pegasi was pretty weak for being a 5th tier? creature. Annoyed me that they had good speed, but couldn't kill a shit. And the Gold Dragon was immune to magic lvl 1-4, but it's the level 5 magic that is the most dangerous. Implosion killed them pretty easy.

The main reason I liked them was because of the Elves, good attack and 2 shots, they owned.

My all time favourite team is Dungeon. 2 good shooters that can take a beating, good growth, with good damage, Harpy with no retaliation so I don't need to waste creatures when I attack with them. And the awesome Black Dragon, Arch Angels are no match for them. The only creature that sucks ass is the Manticore, no abilities, low hp, it's one of the worst 6th tier creatures in the game.

AcuMO I'd edit out that torrent link if I were you before a mod does it for ya. If it's a good game, I highly suggest buying it, otherwise just sitting in your room and downloading the "good games" that are out there do nothing but hurt the developers. They get no money whatsoever, can't afford to make more games and bigger companies with tons of money turn out mediocre games and people end up complaining online. Downloading games probably doesn't seem to have too big of an effect right now since it's relatively new, but the results will show in a few years if this habit keeps up. Unlike musicians, game companies rely on sales to warrant sequels and produce enough positive cash flow (money beyond the costs to make the game) to stay afloat in business.

A long paragraph rant because I'm stuck in class at this forsaken hour in the morning.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

I was a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd versions of HOMM and I like this one as well. I don't know if anyone has the same problems with the game as I do, but here's the negatives I've found so far: 1. I play the game at 1024x768 and have my computer set to 1280x1024, but when I exited the game, I had to restart my computer to get back to 1280x1024. 2. I like to use 2 or 3 heroes, though only one of them has all of my units when I play. So when I was transfering units, I couldn't split up a group of 50 into 49 and 1, leaving the transport hero with 1. There might be a way around this, though I have not seen it. 3. The navigation in the towns is annoying at times.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game, by no means is it perfect.
