I might not know a lot about American Football, but I am pretty sure that it is not the job of the people in his position to make a run for the touchdown, but more to block the enemy from getting to the real "important" players. As in, to block those opponents that just pummelled his quarterback. If it's a play, it was probably thought up by a retard.

But hey, like I said, I don't know that much about American Football, it just appears to be a rather stupid move.

How can that be a play? I don't think anyone was distracted and he could have easily blocked one of the guys that attacked his quarterback. I don't see how that is a play at all.

confuses the offense .. they have no idea where he's going to go because he hasn't moved yet. so he stayed there, and it can make the other team completely choke. didn't work out too well tho lol

imagine it, you're on offense. snap, someone from the defensive line stays there. you have to wait for him to move in order to make sure he's not going to run out into the field wide open.
