My university was on a 12 point system. A+ = 12, A = 11, ... , D = 2, D- = 1. Graduating with distinction required a 10.0 (80%) or higher. I believe 3 people in my program graduated with distinction. You needed a 7.0 (70%) or higher to proceed each year. 43 graduates from a starting class of 396. I graduated with an 8.78, not bad considering I had six 5's and one 2.1: Pasta <ER>> lol we are gona win this bd talking about porn on our squadchat

I haven't taken the SAT yet. I'm afraid. I did pretty well on the PSAT, though...
If you took the PSAT, post your PSAT scores and then your highest SAT scores, just for comparison. I'm interested in knowing if the PSAT score actually translates somewhat accurately into an SAT score.-winipcfg

EDIT: That is, Verbal and Math were quite similar. Writing had not yet been folded into the SAT proper, although I've tutored people to take it since then, so I know how it works.Originally posted by WardOK.. ur retarded case closed

I've been amazed at this difference in difficulty between some universities. The course material I took in 2nd year was similar to 3rd and 4th year material from other "top" Canadian universities. What I find even more amazing is how the majority of American highschools consider C's (70's) average and yet somehow many students manage to get A's (90's). I doubt the standard deviation for intelligence is that high so there must be something else going on. If there are more than 2-3% of students acheiving the top GPA, while at the same time more than 5-6% failing, something isn't right.

Even in college normally the mean in my classes was a B- not a C. Just think of your scores at the end of the semester in a typical class, you're going to usually see a fair number of A's but just a few F's. No one likes failing people.
As for the scores, the percentiles show you did average or well with the writing included slightly below average probably. So all other things ignored you're looking at them being ok enough for an average college. I mean verbal+math of 800 will get you in somewhere, 1000 will get you somewhere average, 1200 will get you somewhere above average and l400 or so will give you a shot at the top notch colleges.Last edited by Sleepy Weasel; 06-27-2006, 10:25 PM.
