And why couldn't they figure out that Clark was superman, how much more obvious does that have to be??

    I would gave it 6.5 out 10.
You should be a movie critic Telcat.

I think this is at least top 10 of your best posts. You fault a movie because Lois Lane lied about loving Superman? Did you not pay any attention to the entire plot line about her trying to move on with her life and Superman leaving for 5 years? Or were you too busy thinking about how slow things move in your head? And then of course you have to throw in the canned comment about Superman's identity. YOU ARE VERY ORIGINAL TELCAT.

One thing that struck me about this film was the cinematography, and the colours in particular. I found that the colours throughout the film, but especially in the second half, to be a bit drab, washed out even. I know that the weather effects and the mood would lead towards a greyer spectrum, but this is Superman.

It might not seem that important to some people, but the darker colours seem more fitting for Batman than a Superman film. If you look at the comics, one of the signatures of Superman is the vibrancy of the colours. The red, blue and yellow of his costume are iconic of themselves, but for most of the film, the cape wasn't a vibrant red but a muted shade bordering on a greyish magenta.

Just to give you an example of what I think the colours should be like, take a look at the colourful spectrum seen on TV's Smallville. Granted, the show has its Dawson's Creek-ish flaws, but one thing you cannot find fault with it is the cinematography, especially in the vibrancy of the colours. You'll be hard pressed to find anything else on TV matching it.

Of course, other factors play into the decision of colour use; the somber and bleak setting of Luthor's new land mass would lean towards a similar range of colours, but even the ending scenes were bleak except for a bit when Superman went up over the clouds and into the sunlight.

Superman was good, worth seeing, but you could rent it as none of the effects were particularily mind blowing. I've never been a fan of superman, because all it is is his glasses and nobody can figure it out (makes them all long very stupid).

Worth seeing, rent or in theatres, either or.

Like I said though, for people to figure out his secret identity, they have to first consider the possibility that he has one. You have to consider the other heroes in the DC universe to get the context. Of the major ones, that is, the ones in the Justice League, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman were the ones who don't wear masks. You could add the Martian Manhunter, but J'onn J'onzz is a shapeshifter, and technically, every form he takes could be a mask. Of the three I listed though, Wonder Woman and Aquaman have no seperate secret identities. Everyone in the world knows that Wonder Woman is an Amazon princess and Aquaman is king of Atlantis. They are exactly who they present themselves to be, and people assume that Superman is the same way. It's only the ones in the masks, like Batman, Green Lantern and the Flash, that people think they have something to hide.

Imagining that Superman has a civilian identity would be like telling someone that Jesus walks among us disguised as a plumber named Bob.

I thought Wonder Woman had the secret identity as a lawyer or something on her old tv show.

Or was that just series-specific and not how it is in the comics? I'll admit I'm not a huge DC fan.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Since you were probably one of those students who spent more time paying attention to how sexy your female English teacher was than to what she was teaching, lemme refresh your memory:

The question given to Lois Lane was "were you in love with superman", not "are you still in love with superman". It was not a awefully hard question to answer. She could easily have said "yes, but that was before I married you".

Gen, plz go and marry an intelligent girl, so your kids would have some chance (not that I imply any of them would want you).

That was in the dark period of time DC comics calls "pre-crisis". During the mid '80s, DC had a big event called the Crisis on Infinite Earths, which, besides being a marketing device, gave them the chance to start all of their different comic series from scratch, this time using the same continuity. Up until then, each comic was started on its own, removed from others. They realized that there was money to be made if all their characters existed in the same world, and jammed them all together. Unfortunately, the result was a mash of often conflicting stories and timelines. The Crisis was their chance to reboot their collective characters and let them follow the same timeline. Pre-crisis, Wonder Woman was, among other things, a florist and an army nurse. Heck, the first season of the TV show took place during WWII. The second season took place in the '70s. The Crisis "erased" all of the past storylines.

After the reboot, Wonder Woman was ambassador of the Amazons of Themyscira to "Man's World" (ie the rest of the planet), and they dumped the idea of her having a secret identity. She was just Diana and Wonder Woman was more of a title than a name.

Sorry Telcat, I missed all of that. I was too busy thinking about ravaging your gaping pussy with a 20 inch double sided dildo while dry raping your anus with my bulbous piece.

And besides that, you only have to look as far as ZeUs's "Doesn't this guy look like Dave Grohl" thread to realize that, yes, people do sometimes resemble other people.

Oh, and TK, I now a guy who looks like jesus. We put copies of photos of Jesus and Stuart Chricton on a wall, and added a beard to Stuart, and voila!

And you know something even weirder? If I remember correctly, genocidal knows Stuart in the real world. Small world, huh?

(edit/p.s.: gen, i haven't forgotten about our thread...i was, you know, out all weekend, and tomorrow's the 4th of july, so i haven't had time to sit down and rack the old noggin. you will get your share of ayn rand-gasms shortly )

Stuart's about as weird as Jesus, too.

I want to hear Thix's opinion on this movie.

I thought the movie was good but every time the kid thing was mentioned I thought about that old joke about how Lois couldn't have his super-human baby.
