You can't deny the fact that Gamecube was pure shit except for a few good games, and it's gonna be the same with Wii.

And the list of games aren't exactly impressive, the only thing that looks interesting are Super Smash Bros and Zelda, the rest looks like shit to me.

Wii is gonna attract loads of newbie gamers because the controller shit is fun to play, until they notice how shitty the graphics are, and how limited the technology is. Not every developer will make games that uses the moving controller shit.

And the fact that Nintendo lost Rare a good while ago doesn't exactly help them.

But I'm prolly going to buy Wii too (money isn't an issue at all), with 3-4 good games out of a million shitty games, just so my little brother get something to play with so he leaves my PS3 alone.

GC, for me, was a pretty big disappointment. Nintendo came off the big success of the N64 to introduce the mediocre GC system. Even though there were a few good games, they didn't compare to the other systems.

As Ignominy said, I really don't understand Nintendo's decision to not offer HD support. That just seems stupid to me. It's like they're TRYING to give Wii (not Revolution, SORRY) the smallest chance of success as possible. On another point, Nintendo, I think, is the only console maker that still doesn't have an online service with the console, unless Sony doesn't have one either. None of my friends have a PS2, so I really don't know anything about it. Even though Nintendo's systems are somewhat comparable to similar-gen systems in terms of hardware, they're always a gen behind in terms of other features, and I think this has really killed them.

Hopefully Nintendo will actually get many good games released. I think Nintendo just needs their own Halo, and they can reenter the market as the giant they once were.

But this probably won't happen, so gg. But I'll still probably buy the Wii, if for no other reason, then because of its low price point.

HAH, we used to play LAN games of Halo in my dorm, I would continually borrow my friend's original sized controller, despite the mocking we gave it, I preferred it so much for those games. But it is not a good controller for a mass market. Kids can't even hold it, man. And there are lots of greatgames besides Halo for Xbox (both Knights of the Old Republics, Fable, and Ninja Gaiden Black, just to name a few off the top of my head).

Yes, I vehemently deny that. Zelda releases for the Cube, and is playable on the Wii. Rare changed ownership and staff a while ago, and they are nothing compared to what they used to be.

That is not what I said, I fully understand their decision: The majority market (especially the larger target of non-gamers Nintendo plans to also aim at) will not be HD gamers throughout the life of the next console generation. They want to keep the price down as a contrast, and this is a way to do it. It's just that, as an HD gamer, I don't like it.

Nintendo's focus point has always been about IRL multiplayer, and making your own damn friends. Not play 1v1 with the dredgs of society that don't have 1-3 friends. Though I love Xbox live and use it all the time, I don't attempt to branch out there, most people overwhelmningly suck. Nintendo's business engine is so efficient that even though they sell far less than Sony, they make, bottom line, about as much as all of Sony, Yes, that’s right. Little Nintendo generates about as much cash as giant Sony—electronics, movies, the works. Source.

You might be wondering, y trenchwars if 3systems n00b? It's cause I love you guys, awwww.

GC would only seem like a failure or a success depending on the types of games you're interested in. Sports games and RPG's are almost non-existant on the GC, so I wouldn't be surprised if people that are interested in those type of games to say that the GC didn't offer that much. Fans of action games and multiplayer games, will be jumping to disagree of course, since IMO that's the bulk of the GC's library.

I'm an RPG fan and in terms of those types of games, I can see why Ratty thinks the console didn't do so hot- not really surpirsing though, Nintendo hasn't had a console for RPG's since the super nintendo.

The ps3 is going to have a very high price when it comes out, and depending on the amount of the price drop, and when said price drop comes- I don't think it will be a big seller in the beginning. Alot of people want to play the games coming out for the system, but also alot of people don't need it to play DVD's, make our beds, and cook for us. Sony's just trying to cram too much shit into the console, when they should just focus on gaming. I know they are pushing the Blu-Ray disc thing but that's still up in the air, can't tell atm how it will turn out.

Xbox360 is already off to a better start than the original, and I might actually buy one eventually. I just need to see alot more good games come out for it, and not just ports. A big, diverse library is what would help the 360 the most right now.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Just like Ignominy pointed out, the HD will not be common enough through the life of the Wii to make it worth being added as a standard feature. As for the online portion, the Wii will come with WiFi connectivity out of the box and it will have an online service, not just for multiplayer online play, but also for downloading NES, SNES and N64 games to play on the Wii's Virtual Console. Nintendo didn't want to make a big splash with online service for the Gamecube because, when the system was first released, online play, just like HD support for the Wii, just wasn't ready yet to be a standard feature. Online play only really hit the mainstream in the tail end of the system's lifespan, and given the lack of popularity of the console's sales, it just wasn't a good use of resources to add it.

As for Nintendo being the last to add features, that isn't true when you look at controller innovations. When Sony added tilt sensing to the PS3 controller, that followed the Wii's motion sensing controller. Look even farther back and you'll see that Sony added rumble shortly after Nintendo released a rumble pack for the N64. Sony also added the two analog joysticks a year after the N64 and its controller hit the market. Going even further, the orignal PS controller was an evolution of the SNES controller. I'm not going to say that Sony stole those ideas like a fanboy would; I feel that these things were natural evolutionary steps in controller design, but the record shows that Nintendo was always a step ahead in that area.

I dont even want to call ps3 or 360 video game consoles anymore. They are computers in my mind.

If you really want a next gen system I suggest you all pick up Nintendo Wii. I know I will when it comes out. Great graphics + fun games and fun way to play games = one kick ass gaming console. Excuse but I gotta say fuck you to all you guys that are craving for HD + DVD + Mp3 + this + that. If you want all that go and get a pc. A gaming console plays video games and you know what? Thats the only thing it should be playing. If they added all that stuff that you guys want the price would be jacked up to $400 dollars probably if not more and thats not an affordable price for everyone.

Nintendo has done the job. Now its up to developers to do theirs. I just hope they dont screw up Resident Evil for Wii cause so much can be done with that game especially with the Wii console.

It's already announced that Smash Brothers Brawl won't support the moving controller shit. YOU PRESS THE BUTTONS LIKE A YOU DO ON A REGULAR CONTROLLER. Am I surprised? Not really.

The technology is limited, and most of the developers are either going to use lots of time (make it a year+) to get used to the technology, or most likely drop that shit, or even better, not develop anything for Wii.

And if its like you say, that if they don't make games compatible with the controller, then it means they won't be making games for Wii, then it prolly means that Wii will have a short life.

The english is horrible as usual, but live it it my narrow minded Nintendo freak.

Yeah, the Wii controller sucks so much, Sony had to come up with a similar idea!

You do realize that Sony's not exactly being Johnny On the Spot with dev kits for the PS3, right? Right? And that most games released at release of the console don't harness the full potential of ANY console, right? Like, that's been a historic fact? Dude, you're so full of shit that it's coming out your eyes.

I agree Conc. Usually it's 8-12 months before the really impressive looking games start coming out. Nothing from the Xbox 360 so far has struck me as "next generation".

                          I want a Ps3, but I am not rich.

                          However, Grand Theft Auto 4 comes out fall/winter 07...so I will need a 360 or a Ps3 by then!

Hell the Gamecube controllers can be used on the Wii so even if you don't like the new controller, which I personally have a lot of faith in, you can always use the traditional controller. And I personally think that Gamecube's controller is better than PS2's and XBox's (doesn't have 2 joysticks but is way more comfortable and less awkward than XBox's).

Or, which will probably be the case, we'll have the best of both worlds. Some games will be perfect for the new controller and some will be good for the old one. Either way, I'll be satisfied with Zelda: Twilight Princess, the new sports games, Super Smash, and Rogue Squadron games. Is it just me or does Nintendo own the fuck out of Star Wars franchise games? Yes Battlefront was good at first but no real plotline and a mediocre multiplayer make it an easily forgettable game for me.

The last Nintendo system I bought was a Super Nintendo, but something tells me I will be purchasing a Wii over a PS3 or 360. I've never been one to buy more than 7-8 games for a system and I just can't see myself paying more for a system than I will on the games. The Wii will probably only have 4-5 games I'd purchase, but all of them will only be available on the Wii and it's been a long time since I played games that could make me smile like Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart used to.
