So, what have you heard about Nintendo's new system and the PS3?

Revolution, the Nintendo system, I've heard is going to quite revolutionary (LOL PUN). A lot of gaming communities and magazines say that Nintendo may finally win back all of its previous customers. I've been a long-time Nintendo fan, even through the disappointing years of the N64 and the terrible years of the GC, so I think I may end up getting Revolution. That, and it's much cheaper than the PS3 and 360.

I've heard the PS3 is, of course, going to be pretty awesome as well. Good game developers, as always, top-of-the-line hardware, and extension of Sony's online service. Other than that, I don't really know much about it.

What do you guys know about these things?

All I know is that it's not called the Revolution anymore. It's called Wii. I don't plan on buying any of them since I'm more of a PC gaming guy.

I've heard Wii (Revolution) will cost around $250 being the cheapest of the 3 new consoles. Also it's controller looks pretty nice and I want to try it out. I expect a lot from games like Zelda : Twilight Princess and the new Metroid Prime. Only negative side I can think of is that Wii doesn't play DVDs.
Regency> not in for dd lol

Wii: First person shooters where you move the controller around to aim at people. Nuff said. Plus you could buy 2 Wiis and like 500 of the oldschool games they're releasing for it for the price of 1 PS3.

Don't mind Richard, he has a rocky exterior but a heart made of gold~
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

You should be careful when you mention the word Nintendo, Richard gets a little sensitive when that happens.

Wii will have like 1-5 cool games from Nintendo, the rest from other developers will suck.

                  PS3 is the best.

Which goes to say a lot about these other developers and their design philosophies, whats more hilarious is that these other developers are the only guys who will possibly be making games for the PS3.
So let me get this down pat here, you state that the only good games for the Wii will be first party and then basically say every single developer other than Nintendo sucks shit and can't design their way out of the proverbial paper bag (which mind you I'm not all that much in disagreeance with you at this point), and then you say that even though said shit developers are going to be the only ones making the games for the PS3, you still think it is the best system ever even though a) it has not come out yet b) is going to be expensive as hell and c) is shaping up to not really be all that great.

You know Ratty, oftentimes due to your constant disregard for both logic and reason, I cannot help but wonder if you're actually a woman trying to pose as a common man with sensibility (which of course, you'd be failing miserably at).

[Edit: Also, sorry winip, but you had to have known by now that the system actually has a name, it goes by no other, there is no excuse for talking about a Nintendo Revolution when there is no such thing. Oh and though I'm pretty suprised I was right, I still didn't actually know at the time you dug the 3DO, at least now I can see why you're liking what the PS3 has shown you so much.]

                        1 minute explanation

Due to their proximity to Japan, giant enemy crabs have played a significant role in Japanese history, particularly in influencing battles that actually took place in ancient Japan. The most famous of those battles in which giant enemy crabs was involved is the Battle of Genji, in which a contingent of 3,000 Japanese soldiers was massacred by several dozen giant enemy crabs in 1149. The tide of the battle turned in favour of the Japanese due to the advancement of two military technologies in the same year: the ability to change weapons in real time and the tactic of flipping opponents over for massive damage (the Japanese would later utilise this tactic at Pearl Harbor on the USS Arizona). The crabs were driven back to the ocean in 1151.

I one day listen to the converstaion @ gamespot, a interview with the mastermind behind moneky island. Its a game serie that just won't never die out. It's not about the graphics in that game, its about the story, the humor, the characters and their personality, the pussel. Overall its just a awesome game. These days, most games won't last for years, they will be forgotten. Since most games are just about having super graphics and supreme effects etc. Though I see splinter cell to be somewhat a game that will stand out for some time, imo. Anyways, after heardin this interview with robert gillbard(I think it his name was like that), it made we want to play monkey island again.. yeah those really old ones from 97'. : D

I can't stand to not be serious, since this is a subject I feel I know so much about.

Though I hate the name "Wii," I have a lot of faith in Nintendo. Through the years, they have not lost the concept of what makes things fun, and save for the virtuaboy (which they pretend didn't happen), have yet to miss badly. I greatly respect their decision to keep n64 a cartridge-based console, because machine strength was not yet great enough to make loading time negligible. I think the DS has worked out GREAT, and thoroughly proved naysayers wrong. Smash Bros. Melee was (is) one of the greatest and most inovative and balanced fighters of all time. I have a lot of faith in Nintendo that they will make excellent use of the innovations they are trying to put forth.

My problem with Wii is this: lowering the specs on it is going to damage the cross platform game quality. PS2 hurt the previous generation greatly, being the weakest system and having only two controller slots (don't start with me on the multi-tap available, NO ONE had one and so NO ONE made games 4 player), and while PS2 had its share of amazing games, there were many times I resented it for holding back the others. A great example of this is gta:san andreas, which looked awful compared to what it could've looked like were it released solely on xbox. So this could be a serious problem unless the Wii plays too different for cross releases, which I see as unlikely.

Though the E3 PS3 show was unbelievably mockable, the PS3 will no doubt be more than decent at very worst. Despite sony's history of technical problems (cardboard walls in the ps2; dead pixels, fucked up square buttons, and disks shooting out of the PSP), it seems as though they've taken a bit more time to work on this one. They even listened to the massive negative reactions and kangaroo jokes from fans on their release of the boomerang controller, and recalled it for a more traditional one. The price is lethal for those of you who care about money.

XBOX360 was out early and has already done well and had several excellent games, with Elder Scrolls: Oblivion topping that list. Good specs (possibly the best after Sony retracted their original claims) A much better controller this go-round makes it look to stay promising.

I'm just as great of a proponent of the "gameplay > graphics" arguement as I'm sure anyone who plays ss should be, but my thorough enjoyment of the 360's move to HD makes me very sad that the Wii will not support it.

Personally, I won't be playing just one system, and it will be tough to say for a while which is the go-to for the single system purchase.

Had to chime in when I heard some newbie say that the xbox has a better controller this time. That is bullshit, there is no better controller for halo than the duke. And there is no point playing any other xbox game than halo
