    Supreme Commander.

Makes me REALLY want to get a new computer. I like the intricate guerilla warfare, more realistic because you can actually miss, and terrain plays a big factor. Also, everything in this game is to scale, so tanks aren't only twice the size of a marine (SC). Check out the nukes, wow....

I've never really been a fan of RTS games. Actually, I have, but I suck too badly at all of them and I just get pissed off.

      That looks really cool, though.

Most every single time I play a Real Time Strategy game, I think to myself how great a game it'd be, if it were only turn based. Too much miniature wargaming in me I guess, but I cannot stand RTS.

yea, before this game was announced, nothing was better than Total Annihilation.

TA (more than 10 years old now I believe) is still the best RTS around. Fully 3D terrain, etc etc etc, this new RTS Supreme Commander is considered the "spritual sequel" to TA.

Of course there's TA Spring, but that's just TA with a 3D engine re-write, its pretty much the same game.

But yea, Supreme Commander is designed by the same guy as TA, and the only reason it isn't an official sequel is because they don't own the rights for the name.

I think TA is not as good as ppl think it is. It was a pioneering RTS, but I think having WAY too many units kinda ruined it. It made the game into a kinda dilute game and placed no special emphasis on particular units. Starcraft and Warcraft and C&C were better imho.

You are probably correct. But if I refuse to spend $500-600 on a new console for 1-2 games, I'm sure not going to spend $1200 to upgrade my computer for one RTS

The scope of Starcraft and C&C is so much smaller than TA that including them in the same genera is almost silly. Starcraft in particular is an excellent example of doing the most important thing right (Unit balance and rebalance and story) at the cost of doing everything else incredibly poorly (graphics, terrain, unit numbers, base defense, length of play). The first time I D-gunned a friend who thought he was playing starcraft and k-bot rushed me in the first 5 minutes was when I fell in love with that game. If you want games about tactics and unit micromanagement, by all means go pick up a copy of warcraft 3. If you want a strategy game with huge fuck off battles, keep your eye on Supreme Commander.
