This sounds REMARKABLY like a NINTENDO marketing ploy known as "Accessorizing". "Well if you buy this, you can play this game better! Look you can even play extra levels of stuff like Metroid or Pokemon Stadium!"

Is there an actual need to transfer all your songs to your 360? Or is just another one of those "LOOK WHAT I CAN DO" sorta things?

Too many people have bought into DRM with ITunes and Apple, there just isn't enough market share to support another DRM orientated music service and player that will have as much success as the Ipod. That said if it can offer something more then your generic Mp3 player or even Ipod video it just might compete but not over take Apple.

Yeah, there is an actual need. I listen to custom soundtracks for all my games cause I hate most of the in-game music. Instead of burning a bunch of CDs from my iTunes to then rip them on my 360, I can just transfer them all in bulk. Much easier and i don't need to waste all those CD-Rs
