  • ray tracing

    so at siggraph last week, there was a session on 'the cutting edge of ray tracing'. it was interesting i guess.

    at the end though, it comes to questions, and a guy from nvidia research stands up and says something like:

    you have everything working with this, it's speed is good, ..., but what really needs to happen before ray tracing goes main stream (gets used extensively in games) is make an API,...

    i wanted to see what other people think about that, because i can't decide if it's good or bad.
    (if more explanation is needed, i can write more)

    Was this awhile ago? My friend went to siggraph a few months ago I think. Or are there multiple meetings?

      there might be multiple meetings, i dont know.
      the main conference was july 30-august 3 though. it was in boston. i just got back yesterday.
