Kill Bill is all style no substance. Overrated.

Snatch and Lock Stock pop to my mind, but those are particular action movies. In terms of pure action ... Ong-Bak is a solid choice a well as the French free-running move.

Equilibrium was decent but don't expect it to be that good or you'll be disappointed (it looks like a budget film bc it is one).

Whoa whoa whoa, Blade Runner is not an action movie, it's at best a crime drama. It's also for the best that I never have to see it again :turned:
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

            Has anybody mentioned Blade?

Also, is the series any good? I haven't gotten a chance to see any of it.

Pretty good. The first is by far the best. One of them is pretty bad ... the one with Jessica Biel.

The last movie of the Blade trilogy stars Jessica Biel, it was definately the "worst" out of the three, if that makes sense. The first one is badass but I also like the main chick in Blade II, so I like that one also.

Fidel knows whats up. I was looking at previous posts again and hadn't seen Hard Boiled come up until he posted. My top 3 of all time would have to be-

                    1) The Killer
                    2) Hard Boiled
                    3) Fist of Legend

Chuck Norris and Arnold have done alot of cheesy action movies, but the three above are in a leauge of their own (no pun intended). The fight scenes are ridiculous, along with the body counts. Jet Li, Chow Yung Fat and John Woo ftw.

Holy cow, just found out Jet Li is 43 years old. No wonder "Fearless" will be his last action flick, he's been doing action films for 24 years.

there were tonnes of other good kungfu movies made in hongkong, unfortunately i was in china when i watched them, and couldn't understand the title (or even any word through them all)

Hard Boiled is an excellent Asian gun fight movie. Sorta in the vein of Equilibrium action and old fashion Western.

Have you heard of the film noir genre?

                            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_Noir

Film noir is a cinematic term used primarily to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas that set their protagonists in a world perceived as inherently corrupt and unsympathetic.

The cynical and stylish perspective of classic film noir had a formative effect on the cyberpunk genre of science fiction that emerged in the early 1980s; the movie most directly influential on cyberpunk was Blade Runner (1982), directed by Ridley Scott, which pays clear and evocative homage to the classic noir mode (Scott would subsequently direct the poignant noir crime melodrama Someone to Watch Over Me [1987]).
                            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_Runner

. The film is credited with prefiguring important concerns of the 21st century, such as globalization and genetic engineering. It remains a foremost exemplar of cyberpunk and neo-noir and observers continue to see its myriad influences on culture.

Then I suppose Sin City is a crime drama too 'cause it fits the description very tight. It's a good movie too. I guess if the movie has a plot longer than 2 lines you gotta make up a special "genre" for it. Just like in music if you do a song that's actually good people want to make up a genre for it that's at least 3-4 words long. :O

Sin City was a big letdown. I put it in the War of the Worlds and Spider-Man category for letdowns.
