How am I a hypocrite? I just asked a question.

It's not like I posted some random picture I found on the internet to spam this thread, like is done with virtually every othr thread where someone talks about their real life on the Trench Wars forums.

Barring the randomness of coming into my birthday topic talking about some girl and how she was unfairly treated, you're a hypocrite because you labeled my OP as "reeking of livejournal" when you yourself have created similar threads in GD on more than one occasion. Not only that, but this is the General Discussion forum, and saying my post reeks of livejournal when there are plenty of topics regarding sprained arms, movies, wedding dates and other topics you would find on a livejournal is redundant.

he way I see it, Epinephrine sat in his chair and looked at the forum and thought: interesting how "internet popularity" works.

* person A talks about an -i missed the topid but in my eyes a interesting thing, from what i hear- situation about someone close to you in Iraq.
* And person B talks about what he did on his 21 birthday.

I might be wrong that he thought that thought, but i agree with that thought.

Let's take a glance at the main page, shall we? Let me just give you a breif description of some of the topics there-

"College is..Easy" - Squeezer talking about how college life is going for him, and how easy it is

"Anyone have weak spots for terrible movies?"- Face talking about how he likes to watch cheesy movies

"October 7th, 2006" - AENIMA (sorry if I got that wrong buddy) spreading the news about getting married

"Best Action Movies" - Squeezer talking about his "jonesing" for action movies

"Suggest movies for this weekend" - Jerome asking for movie titles that he can watch with his girlfriend

"Sprained both my Arms" - Sleuth telling the forum about how he sprained both his arms

"Paintballing" - Mobey telling us about his first day paintballing.


That's just the first page of general discussion! Tell me, how are any of those topics different from mine? Why did Epi not get sit back when he saw those topics and decide to elaborate on this b@by girl situation in those? Yes let's talk about how internet popularity works. Any of the above posters make topics about stuff going on in there lives and it's just oh I don't know, General Discussion. But if I happen to create a topic that just shares some info about my birthday, all of a sudden the topic reeks of livejournal!

You know what, maybe it was the responses I got, maybe people were brutal to those other topic-starters and immediately treated them with hostility from the get-go:

-Don't bother buying pro equipment as its extremely expensive, especially for a student. They don't give you the edge as all the guns supplied by the paintballers have sufficient range and accuracy, the only thing the pro guns can do is increase your speed of fire, and that'll only lead you to run out of paintballs quicker.

-Yeah, its a fun hobby, I really enjoy it, its a lot more expensive here at £35 for half the day, I don't know if thats because the quality they offer is better, it seemed really amateur to me, the markers were a piss poor and battered and so were the goggles.

Saw Fearless last night, it was awesome. It's not just cheesy random kung-fu fighting also, Jet Li's character actually has a good story and development throughout the movie. I've also heard good things about Little Miss Sunshine, I was actually going to go see that until I found out that Fearless was showing.

If it's not because of what I've said in other people's topics, and it's not because I'm the only one making topics about my life in General discussion...it must be because I'm popular on the internet!

Eureka! To Epi and SEAL I'm popular on the internet, and that girl isn't, that's why the connection was immediately drawn between the two! I should have seen it from the get go! Fuck the other 10-15 people posting the same type of topics and getting no banter from Epi or SEAL, let's pick out LB's topic and then accuse him of unfair treatment in regards to his life because he's "popular" on a message board! Other people got acceptable and caring comments in their topics, but since CERTAIN PEOPLE THAT EPI DOESN'T LIKE wished me a happy birthday, the internet is a corrupt place! This topic is a corrupt place, reeking of livejournal! Thank you, both of you, my eyes have been opened and hopefully the sarcasm hasn't been missed!

In real life, if some trailer trash random skank came up to me, said "hi" and started talking about her problems, I would absolutely hate it. On the other hand, if someone (hell, even if it was a trailer trash skank) that I knew pretty well and disliked came up to me and said "hey man, I know we've had our differences, but I've got this issue, blah blah blah" in 99% of those situations, I would have no problem helping them out. Nevermind the fact that Liquid Blue was having a fun, lighthearted conversation, and not actually asking for help. My point is, it has nothing to do with popularity.

People may be getting sidetracked, but your initial point didn't make any sense, Epi. What you see happening here is that people on these forums find it enjoyable to bicker with stuck-up know-it-alls like you, especially when they're obviously wrong. I agree with most of the things you post on the forums, but I'm obviously not alone in thinking that your tone rubs me completely the wrong way. Saying that you "touched a sore spot" has nothing to do with it. Nobody feels guilty for their treatment of b@by girl in relation to our interest in LB's birthday.

How is that a hypocrite? It only is if I say those posts that genocidal found were not also. I agree those posts of mine were pretty bloggish posts, of which livejournal represents the largest of such blogging communities. Keep in mind I never actually whined about the post. I said LB could post about it and I am neutral towards it, read what I wrote in posts above.

All the topics of people talking about personal stuff are pretty equivalent to me. Sure some are annoying, some are not. Some are more interesting than others. I was just commenting on how some threads recieve only praise and some only flames, then basically it's all just boring stories about our personal lives (mine included it seems) which are all somewhat equivalent. I guess face answered that question, when he talked about how much he hates baby girl and how much he loves you, therefore I will stop posting in this thread for real.

How is this hard to grasp for you? When you first came in here, you started talking about how some people acted quite differently in this topic than they did in another, completely unrelated topic- and then you went on to say that my post was reeking of livejournal. It's hyp-o-critical to say such a thing when you yourself have made simliar posts. If you admit that was a foolish thing to say now, that's fine, but at the time you were being a hypocrite, which is what we've been trying to tell you for god knows how long.

It's general discussion, people talk about a variety of things here. One can either deal with it, or choose not to- not that hard to understand.
