post answers for me to check
first one, -5
second one, i'll assume you mean 1 / (x+4) and not (1/x)+4 .. in the first case, the answer is 1/4
third one, 2
and d1st0rt, i'm only in calc II right now.. you have me beat. :9I'm back.

the first one is a linear equation, which is simply y=ax+b, b is the y-intercept
the second one is a reciprocal function, which is y=a/(x-h)+k. The asymptote is moved right/ left by h value, up or down by k
The third one is an absolute value, it can be written as y=a|x-h|+k, h is vertex to the right, k, up.
but for this overly ez question, just plug in the values. For ex the first one would be
f(x)=-1-4=-5
f(x)=0-4=-4
f(x)=1-4=-3
These questions are for intelligent ppl? thats just sad...wtf
This is grade 7 stuff, i assume?

when x=1 for example,
1 / (x+4)=1/5 (not 1/4 anyways)
(1/x)+4=5Last edited by deathking; 10-04-2006, 11:58 PM.
