Don't see why it matters what medium the proposal is made over. It does seem a bit tacky to me to post a thread for it instead of using PMs, but then again, people in "real life" seem to have public marriage proposals sometimes without anyone jumping on them for it.

Still, living together may put some strains on their relationship that communicating online doesn't :P
