The patriot is about the civil war in America right.. the one with which they undid theirselves of the brits and gained their indepence? Am I wrong on this.. if not, how can you never have heard of it before? I think that the american like to take great pride in that war.

It's true the movie isn't out yet. But then again I saw the trailer, and it's also based on a comic book.

It's like saying that a movie with Mariah Carey's going to suck.. I mean it may not, but chances are... it will.

I do hope I'm wrong though, I really do because if this movie sucks, they will probably never make another movie about the battle of thermopyle for a very very long time if ever again.

It does say, in the trailer, "Inspired by the art design of Frank Miller" or something of the like.

Wait so you tried to compare Frank Miller to Mariah Carey? Or comics in general to Mariah Carey?

IMO what they did with Sin City was amazing, and although I don't think this is the same director I have high hopes since it is being made after another one of Frank Miller's works. I enjoyed the trailer and don't think it will be bad at all, maybe we'll get a better idea after looking at what past movies the director has done?
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Dawn of the dead, which if I remember correctly, was supposed to be terrible.

Also, sadly, he apparently directed the watchmen which does not give me high hopes for it...

Hmm, I haven't heard anything about the Watchman but I loved Dawn of the Dead. It's not Romero style, which might have pissed some people off but I still liked how it turned out.

Well come on dude, a comic-based movie will suck?

Anyway I think my original words have been twisted. I just don't think a comic book adaptation of a real life event is going to do the real life event justice. I think the real life event would be completely awesome if it were given a 'Saving Private Ryan' type of treatment. Generally comic books don't have that kind of thing. While it may be a fun movie, it won't be accurate at all, and my point was that if given a real historical treatment it would make an awesome movie.

A real historical treatment of Thermopylae is only possible to an extent. Saving Private Ryan was able to have this treatment as there are many eyewitness accounts on record and many witnesses still alive. Thermopylae doesn't have those advantages. Sure, the movie will have some creative license, but just about any movie about Thermopylae has to speculate about some aspects of the battle.

He looks real to me. The trailer makes the movie look awesome, but it's gonna be long before the movie comes out. There are a load of wicked movies coming out before the end of this year.
