Time Traveling: What would you do?

If you had a time machine and could go back in time or towards the future, what would you do?


Personally, I would go back in time, maybe as early as the wright brothers and introduce to them our present technology. So when they receive our technology, they will advance in it and by the time you get to present day, the technology would be out of this world- literally.



What you have to do:
Answer that question on your own or argue my personal answer and tell me how wrong it is and use politically correct statements to back your stuff up! =p

First of all, you probably don't understand our technology well enough to introduce it to someone that's never heard of computers.

Second of all, they wouldn't understand you once you tried to explain.


Some physicists actually believe that if you travel backward in time, then you will create an alternate dimension, so if you alter anything...the consequences won't be felt in your original dimension.

Einstein said, if we have ever figured out time travel, we'd be plagued by time travellers from the future.

I personally believe, that if we did figure out time travel, that it's far into the future, so far that we've even colonized other solar systems, or perhaps the way we look is completely different. And we might be getting plagued by future time travellers, although we'd look at them as aliens, and UFOs. Understand what I'm saying?


Back to the previous topic...if none of multi-dimension stuff was true, and I had a time machine in my closet, I'd help the South win the Civil War...if it turned out bad, I'd go set it back the way it was, and just see how different things turn out:P

Then there is this group that I like to call the mentally stable and they say that time travel is not possible and that thinking you can do so is retarded.

I believe time travel is impossible for the reason of 'new dimension creating' said by aenima.

But I would go back 5000 to 6000 years, and watch Egypt, maybe pretend to be Ra with my advanced technology bwahah (No, I didn't get it off stargate before anyoen says, Just because I have an interest in the ancient world, especially egypt, people assume I watch too much stargate, bloody feckin priests)

Then after I've had my fun I would travel back furthur and stop the human race, I assume that by the time time travel is 'invented' which I doubt it would then there would be weapons of greater mass destruction.

Anyways, I've been reading Hawking's The Universe in a Nutshell and it too currently denounces (while not completly ruling out) the possibility of time travel. The creation of additional demensions is a concept that we have not come to understand, so thus the technology is moot from our standpoint. However, a logical solution might be wormholes. For those of you who really don't know what they are, wormholes are essentially holes in time. They can stretch or shrink the space which they occupy, making the time to travel such space less or greater, and also altering the destination point at which you would exit. It's been about 2 weeks since I last read it though, so some of this might be a little fuzzy, but you get the idea. The only problem with wormholes is that controlling where you end up is virtually impossible.
If I could travel through time though, with control over it, I would like to travel back to the Enlightenment, at the peak of intellectual advancement. Meeting Voltaire and Rosseau would make my day. $$

Shear, I think scientists know that wormholes exist on the atomic level, the trick is stretching it out, then keeping it open for something to travel through it...I think scientists are really looking at wormholes for their capabilities of faster-than lightspeed travel.
