Have you ever did online dating? Would you ever do it?

What do you think about online dating? What do you think about the people who do online dating?

I am no LB, but I am trying to start a serious topic.

I think meeting NEW people on the internet for the purpose of dating is a bad idea. I think it ruins the whole idea of "1st impression" because by the time you finally meet, you already have a pretty good idea on what its going to take to impress the other. I do think that meeting old friends, like people from high school, old jobs ect is a good idea though, because you can talk about how each of you has moved on with their lives since you last saw each other, and decide from there whether or not the other appeals to you or not

Online daters are sad and should be put to sleep, it's almost as bad as people dating a prisoner or even worse, meeting someone who's in prison and then marry them. Lowlife!

maybe you just want people to back you up on it so you feel better about it

The closest I'll ever come to online dating is if I'm desperate for pussy and find some girl on one of those local dating sites solely to fuck. I don't imagine I'll need to resort to that for at least another 10 years.

There are a few ways one can look at this.

If your just graduating High School and need to use a dating service, then something is wrong or you've been a hermit your whole life.

College...again something is wrong with this picture considering the campus life, classes and atmosphere. It's the perfect spot for people to meet.

Post College...well that's the work place. Who wants to shit were they eat? Slim pickings, unless you work for a large corporation with 1000's of employee's.

Of course you can always pick up the bar fly at last call. They are usually good until the sun rises.

Online dating has its place, but I would say it is directed at those that no longer hang at the pub every evening, are out of college and most of the friends they have are already married. Nothing worse than being the invited guest at a party of all married people and your the only one there not married or with a date.

For those that think it's a bad thing, wait and see what you think when your in your 30's and have no single friends, everyone is married and the only people that are cool that work with you are 60 yr olds bitching about being married!

I actually know a few people that have met as well as married from online dating. They are professionals, in their 30's+ and are quite successful.

I see no difference in meeting someone that you made contact with online, over someone setting you up on a blind date. Well one difference...the blind date is usually set up by a friend and if it doesn't work out it creates an odd atmosphere post blind date. If you meet someone from online...who cares if it doesn't work out?

It's easy to dismiss the idea of a matchmaker dating service online when your young and have plenty to choose from and a party or two every weekend, not to leave out the good ol bar fly chicks.

I credit those that meet online, at least they are not spending their time wishing they had a date while surfing porn and giving their wrist a workout on a Fri. and Sat. night!
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

So let me add this one:

What if you meet someone online, you get to talking and after some time, you realise he/she is quite awesome and you really start to like him/her. You didn't set out for searching for someone online, but you did find someone who seems to be awesome, what would you do then?

I have no gf atm. And just because I make a thread doesn't mean it is about me.

Like, 5 years ago I met some girl off the internet and she was about 80 lbs fatter than the pic she sent me.

So, no. I wouldn't ever online date again.

One of my best friends met his girlfriend over the net, they're moving in on 3 years now, and they've lived together almost 2 of them. She actually looks pretty good.

For my part, I met up with a chick I were talking alot with. She had sent some pics and looked smokin'. She looked like she did on the pic, with the exception that the picture was probably the best she'll ever look. Was all decent, but nothing I wanted to go for.

So yeah, seeing how it can turn out perfectly, I can vouch for that it's a good thing. Just like normal dating you got alot of bad dates before you find that special one that "click".

Nothing wrong with online dating... in our world today where all anyone ever does is work work work, it's hard to find time outside of the work place or 'fake' world of clubs and bars to find someone.
