Wrong again. America is one of the better places in the world regarding common racial attitudes, mostly because we feel so guilty. I guess people read about slavery in their textbooks about America in Canada and assume that because we litter we also don't like black people.
Perhaps I was overexaggerating some, but the fact is, people would rather vote for a woman than a black man. Poll after poll shows this, and election results also prove this.
Uh Hillary is arguably more conservative than McCain. She's very socially conservative, which is the worst kind. Stick to writing about Canadian Parliament.
Yes she's so conservative... She's not calling for escalation in Iraq. She supports abortion. She also was one of the leading proponents for universal healthcare. Damn... so conservative. Get your head out of your ass and your irrational hate for America and just see that you are wrong for once regardless of where I come from.
I'd vote for Obama if he's on the ticket. I sure as hell won't vote McCain though--crazy Arizona bastard.
5:royst> i was junior athlete of the year in my school! then i got a girlfriend
5:the_paul> calculus is not a girlfriend
5:royst> i wish it was calculus
1:royst> did you all gangbang my gf or something
1:fermata> why dont you get money fuck bitches instead
What the hell is this? I looked up these guys on google and neither were significant people or writers (that I could find). They made numerical system for judging ideology, put it on a website, and then you present it as evidence of what? Hell it was only 2 years ago that Trent Lott was in office. McCain is personally against abortion and same-sex marriage but doesn't pursue either with policy fervor (though I believe he did support some same-sex marriage bill presented some time ago). McCain is at least an intelligent, thinking person and while nobody's saying he's a liberal Republican he's by no means the most conservative one.

I don't have NY Times accounts but isolated polls conducted by a newspaper are about as convincing as Blueblaze's sermons. My only problem with your statement was that you were implying America was significantly more racist than other nations - something totally wrong.

I hate America? Since when do I hate America? I enjoy being the best.
Hillary is so liberal she, along with fellow communist Joe Lieberman, wants to keep violent video games out of little nerds' hands; then there was the GTA thing.
Hillary is riding the Democrat bandwagon with Iraq policy and same-sex marriage. She'd have to be an idiot not to if she's serious about running for President. As far as abortion goes, she's female and a Democrat for Christ's sake. Rounding out, want to know who "supports" universal health care with her? That's right, Newt Gingrich his wrinkly-ass self.

A second sign came on May 29, when the New York Times reported that 24 leaders of groups ranging from the conservative U.S. Chamber of Commerce to the liberal AFL-CIO had been meeting secretly for seven months because they were worried about the sketchy, inefficient quality of American health care and wanted to figure out a proposal for universal coverage. Two weeks earlier, Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Newt Gingrich, the yin and yang of politics in the 1990s, announced that they had found common ground on the issue as well.
Once all the posturing is done it'll be easier to see candidate's real tendencies. Of course McCain wants to pick up on the large conservative base in America if he's going to make a bid for President as a Republican because Bush has done a good job of getting Bible-boppers voting. Clinton, by contrast, is content to bask in American disapproval of the Administration just as other Democrats.
EDIT: Oh I looked at the bio at the bottom of the page and apparently he's a professor of political science. What a surprise. Admittedly I didn't (and probably won't) spend time reading about his jumbled mess of an ideology matrix that isn't labeled at all.
America is the land of racism, and alien phobia we all know that. Just because we got mostly educated (Northern) Americans on this forum doesn't change that, it only keeps up appearances.
in all honesty, i dont really care who is in office
decisions concerning iraq at the moment are all wrong. nomatter what is decided, its wrong. its just been a giant cock-up and there is no way to really fix it now. imo pulling out of iraq is just as bad as sending more troops. both options suck and welcome ridicule.
but like i said, i dont really care who is in office. it sounds a bit selfish and such but what i look for when voting is: who is going to let me keep more of the money that i earn.
sounds shitty i suppose, but its the truth
does that make me a fiscal conservative? social agendas dont so much bother me. i am personally against abortion except in extreme circumstances (rape, incest etc) and even then its a subject id rather just ignore. same sex marraige: i dont see it being condoned by the church, but i dont see the harm in allowing the same benefits and penalties allowed the typical married couple.
im not really sure where im going with this, i just felt like typing for a while
that said, mr obama seems like a very intelligent and well versed man
People seem to cast their opinions and votes solely based upon a candidates looks and strict party lines. I love the people that would not Vote for one party or another based solely upon what they are registered as. If Hitler was on the ticket, I am sure many people would still vote for him if he was on their respective partys platform, why?...because they cannot see voting outside of party lines! So many narrow minded voters in the U.S. & oddly enough the new citizens in the U.S. probably know more about our poilitical structure and law than the High School grads voting for the 1st time at the age of 18...makes me think of our great education system!!!!
As for McCain, I at one time liked McCain, but after Bush trounced him and his wife in the past election, McCain looked to me like he had just be castrated by Bush/Rove & came across like he had no backbone to stand up and defend his family. That lost it for me when McCain comes to mind as a candidate.
In regards to Obama issue, regarding if he is a reliable and good runner for the 2008 Presidential elections, I have no problem with him and would as of today knowing only what I know about him, would pick him if I had to Vote in a primary tomorrow. I do like his voting record.
The road to 2008 is going to be a mess and I can only say that I am not looking forward to the mudslinging commercials of attack on TV and Radio we will soon be bombarded by.
The question I seem to hear in the media about Obama is if he has the qualifications to be President. He is still somewhat new to politics compared to the other - life long runners. Does being somewhat new to the Political venue make one less qualified? Considering that most of these candidates have never done anything outside the political venue in the past 20 years, I would be happy for new blood regardless of their race to be President.
Barack Obama's voting record shows to me that he is for the people and not for corporate/lobbyist interests. The TV & Radio ad's always show the candidtaes being in tune with the people, but people seriously need to look at the voting records they have when it comes down to how & what they stand for. Most are not in favor of the peoples of the nation, but for corporate, lobbyist groups & religious affiliation interests 1st.
Government in the past 20 years has not been all that impressive to me with the wide spread scandals and deceptions carried out. With being a voter and alive through the past decades of political trash we have had in office, I personally am leaning towards someone that is not as tainted by the crap we have had in office & have dealt with for so many years. Since when did being president require someone to be a lifelong politician with decades of prior experience? Fresh blood to the presidential race may be just what is needed...that's not to say Obama would win the Dem. primary and nomination but I would vote for him if the Primary Elections would be held today.
[EDIT]: Please note that I did not start this thread!

Seconded. Back during the last election, I heard a guy I thought was pretty intelligent say in a conversation "I voted for Bush because he started the war, you know..he should be there to finish it". I also heard a friend's family trounce on the democrats for the simple reason that they were republican, and so the democrats of course were liberal idiots that would have run the country into the ground.
People vote for the stupidest reasons. For the most selfish reasons. It's nature, I guess.
"Who's going to give me more money in the end?"
"That guy looks funny"
"He's not republican"
"Black guy? No way, I don't want ebonics in the white house"
"Women should be in the kitchen, not deciding the fate of the free world"
"That guy looks like my ex'es dad, man she was such a bitch. Fuck him."
Stupid stupid reasons. Do I think America is ready for a black president? Nope. Do I think America is ready for a female president? Nope. The nation runs on fear, ignorance, Mc Donald's and American Idol. More people can tell you about the latest contestant or what happened on the latest episode of Lost/ 24 rather than tell you about their party's candidates, why the person they're going to vote for is a good choice, etc etc. And if by some measure of chance Clinton or Obama get into office, it's going to just be a countdown until another scandal in which greater, ignorant and stubborn white America can wag their fingers and say " I told you so".
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.
