nad it may be lower budget but it wont be shitty, for what I do a core 2 duo is overkill, amd is perfectly fine and u can overclock the shit out of it

a.) Nobody can give any advice unless they know what you are doing with the box. It is like posting, ‘I am thinking about this vehicle, what do you guys think?’ Are you needing a sports car? A family car? A truck to haul stuff?

b.) This is not the right forum, use Tech Support/Help is you are seriously seeking input, or Useless Crap if you are just bragging about how you are getting a new PC.

c.) Asking for input and then being a smart ass to someone who over-looked something but was still trying to be helpful will turn some people away from replying to you. (Which might explain why there are 5 posts in your thread and 3 of them are yours.)

              Not bad

              http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130073

10 bucks cheaper than your current video card selection, essentially the same card, but dual DVI, imo, better.

              http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144701
Same HDD with 16MB cache for 5 bucks more.

your memory seems sold out. probably because its so kickass at such a kickass price.

350 watt PSU seems little dont you think? especially if you want to OC, might want to go with a better PSU

I would stay away from the Sony DVD drives, I've had tons of problems with mine, especially with Sony not supporting it.

AMD's X2 is great, I have one, love it. Obviously Intel's Core and Core 2 both kick its ass but if you don't have the money that isn't an option. Just as long as you are aware that, yes, Intel's chips are now faster and run cooler than AMD. It seems like not long ago (about a year) that AMD's X2 (and the single core 64 I think) were both faster and used less energy. Isn't the case anymore. And personally I don't think AMD will ever get back in the race. Intel has been spending R&D dollars like crazy bitches and seem so far ahead.

My only other comment, if you don't mind waiting.. you're building a nice system, I'd hang on until some more DirectX 10 cards are out (right now only expensive high end ones exist). They will run better and have nicer graphics. If you can use whatever gfx card your current machine has for 6-8 months, I'd do that, then get a nvidia geforce 8000 series (DX10) later when a) they come down in price and b) entry level and mid range options exist.

I think my DVD is an LG, and it's worked ok.. If that helps.

I totally agree with your point but the answer to this question is obvious. The best computer possible at the best price point. ie: No parts that are 1/3 as good and 3/1 as expensive. A computer should always be considered a truck to haul stuff. hahaha. NO MINI VANS!
