You really can't go wrong with Creative, they make some damn fine stuff

My dad has an old 40 gig Zen Jukebox from 2002, still works like a charm. This past summer the battery only got about 8 hours to a charge so he got a replacement but that's pretty much the only maintenance it has required.

I've had my Nano for about 1,5 year now and the battery is starting to empty really fast.. Think I have to get a new battery for it. I bet it's expensive..

I heard for iPods you have to send them back to Apple to get the battery replaced

I researched this when I bought mine but I was looking for something high end, not cheep. I saw people mentioning Creative they make really good stuff but they are the same price points as Apple Ipod, so it's not really cheap. (If they are cheaper its only because they have more varieties, some of which are cheaper, the Creative Zen Vision M is the same price as the ipod video, for example). Apple, obviously, is also really good.

SanDisk is cheap, and is at least decent. If I was buying something for my mom that's what I'd get. If I was buying something for myself, I'd go the extra mile and get creative or apple.

The only really bad thing about the iPod is iTunes imo. I haven't tried any other softwares from ex. creative so I can't compare.
Which player/brand do you think has the best software?

Oh yeah I've used the software to some old Iriver but it was a joke..

Creative software is pretty easy to use
I've got the 8gb zen microphoto, and it's basically drag and drop the music files you want into the music folder and the zen will do the rest.
That's what I mainly do with it, there are more features that came with it, but I only need my zen for music and the occasional use of its external harddrive.
Another great thing about the Zen (my version is not the same as the V model) is that to USB plug to connect it to the computer is just a normal USB port that you use to connect your camera to the computer and what not (the tiny usb thing on one side, and the normal usb to plug into your computer. I am not good at description). I find that a plus because if I loose or misplace my usb cable I can just use another cable off of another appliance instead of buying one that you only use for you ipod or what not.

One of the developer blogs I follow talks about it (since they use his project) but it might be too technical

Going to read it trough when I get back home after work.
                          Got a question tho..
The player in both your links looks like this:

But the only one similar that I can buy looks like this:

Is it just a new generation? Just checking so we are talking about the same player
