Pure capitalism sucks Gran, everyone knows that. Not everyone is going to be in the position to get ahead and contribute (or survive) in a capitalist society and that's why we do need social assistance. We also need to set standards for health care and make sure people aren't remortgaging their house for a broken leg. Things like that are important, this can't do attitude isn't what I expected from someone like Jerome.

What you and I think about global warming doesn't matter. Our opinion does not change the real physical world. Asking people to change their routine is useless, humans are creatures of habit. Short of a breakthrough we can do nothing in the long term because again when organized, humans are idiots. In the short term we can by switching to cleaner fuel sources. Not only environmentally does it make sense to but politically, energy independence is a great thing for so many reasons.

As one country you can plant as many trees if you want, while some other country just wastes recourses like it's no thing, you won't stop the process.
oh yeah because the poor aren't missed, they are just broken down to the persona of scum when it comes to standards of living. oh yeah and the middle class aren't missed, they just happen to do all the work while everyone stands to the side and makes snide comments. The rich might be missed because hell they just tell everyone what to do and make a shit load of money off of it. this is one great system indeed. especially when the system is based off of labor in foreign countries that pays shit to its workers which constitutes one step above slavery.

and people who complain that they won't get advantages if they lived in a communistic societ can go suck my nuts. Lets take the story of the doctor deserves more than a janitor. Doctors deserve more wah wah, last time i checked, my doctors do shit less work than nurses, and make way less appearances while makes a shit load of dying patients wait while the doctor can enjoy their fatness on freetime. and when they do make appearances and don't know anything, they will just prescribe some standard shit that won't do anything. At least a janitor cleans up our shit. If it wasn't for them we would be living in our own shit till we decided that we should live more healthier. people have immune systems for a reason, we don't need doctors that take soo much money from us to not do anything or next to nothing. don't get me wrong there are some great doctors out there, but i think more than half abuse the system, that leaves the nurses doing more work hence forth the middle class. fuk da rich, fuk da capitalistic society.

i dont understand how people can squabble over something that is well documented and if you'd take five minutes to look it up instead of spewing out what you think you know, you'd all be on the same page.

the point is that you never need an excuse for satire. i applaud the effort, and the bikinis.

    Just...Wow

global warming is not just about getting more sun...its :

    - the excess of greenhouse gas/pollution such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide
    - smogs from overbuilding of these materials = less sun+more heat
    - o-zone layer depletion, leading to extra ultraviolet light getting through, meaning more skin cancer
-changing in ocean currents that cause
    a) Massive depletion (death) of ocean wildlife
    b) eratic weather ie. Blizzard in july, typhoons, etc
    - Massive draught in parts of the world, leading to starvation
    - Extinction of land animals due to various reasons

Theres so much more...and its almost unthinkable that u think global warming is just about getting more sun

i live in calgary, Canada, and I'm pretty sure its colder than where u live. And still i know better to go "pro-greenhouse".

As far as I know, Global Warming is happening with or without us, we just help speed up the process a bit. But even if we would now stop all our emissions and whatnot, the Global Warming thing will still happen it will only take a bit longer. I am all for paying attention to the environment, and all that. But the whole hetze, and panic making and stuff is bit over the top. People are acting as if in 10 years the world will perish if we don't stop it now..

Jerome, the guy with the cap and the white shirt is going for your gf.

I think you're missing the point though. I think that if you talked to any person who was sponsoring the tour, they'd be fully aware that this event isn't going to "stop" global warming (in the purest sense). The point of things like this are to raise awareness, plain and simple. People are generally zombies when it comes to changing the way they live, and if you can grab their attention for five minutes and let them know that there are other alternatives, then you've done your job. Sure, you can't force people to stop ALL of the polluting and emissions overnight, but you CAN give them a chance to take pause and realize that they can start small.

I think that's bull. No one's ignorant of the damage that terror can cause. However, in the grand scheme of things, it's INFINITESIMAL as far as how much damage it can cause. With a global change, it effects EVERYONE, DIRECTLY.

But should no one do ANYTHING about it, then, if we're all equally powerless? Again, it's about raising awareness--no one is under any delusions that things are going to stop overnight, but if you can get one guy to stop eating his Big Mac long enough to actually critically think about a subject... isn't that enough to start with?

Trust me, the past 2 weeks in Louisiana have been reminding me of what I imagine would happen if a bipolar chick got drunk while on her period and was in a room full of nothing but toilets with the seats up. Hailstorms followed by 100-degree weather, followed by 2 days of hurricane-worthy wind (trust me, we'd know), followed by 30, 40 degree weather... and it's April. I'm sure it'll do a number on the tobacco crop for this year (Louisiana shameless plug: smoke Perique!)
