      Highschool yes, but uni...

My biggest exam was on 700 pages - biochemistry (7 weeks course), standards were about 300-500 pages, and some odd courses 100-200 pages.
When you add into account that in 1 hour you can effectivly read about 10 pages, with 3-4 hrs/day it still takes 10 days just to read everything once. Second time around you can cut that time in half cuz you know what stuff is more/less important. And third week it's just really getting the most important stuff concrete-solid and/or finding the odd stuff you think you might get on exam.

So, the only cramming I did (that you need to know about) was in ss

It's funny, most people say that having a girlfriend through college is a bad idea as they take up all your time and stop you from doing work, but since I've been with my current gf, she's really motivated me to do my work, more than I could do by myself, I tend to do it while she's working and she's always interested in what I've done at the end of the day.

But epi, isn't medicine so extreme difficult that you cannot afford any procrastination? I mean I suppose that you have to cram more facts and stuff in your head than most people. For instance, when you learn about the human body, you can't really pick some parts that are important you have to know it all. But when I learn about a business theory of some guy I don't have to know everything the guy said just the important parts, the outlines and then filling it in is logical and stuff.

Seriously, all you college students out there, how do you deal with procrastination? I know I have homework due tomorrow but it's really tough to make myself do it now, when I have the time. I know if I don't I'll be cramming tonight and staying up until 2 in the morning finishing it. Yet it's still difficult to make myself just START.

Anyone have good tips for staying on track?
I have a trick wich works more or less easely.
The trick is to get everything organized and scheduled, so that you would miss something if you dont start working when you should. For example if you need to start working and get things done by 22:00 for example schedule a meeting with your friends or something for 22:00 so that you will "force" yourself working so you can get there by 22:00.
Try to be in a place where you get no distractions like a library or the park or maybe the beach if you leave close to one, but only when you are just putting ideas together otherwise being in the park or the beach won't help you if u need to focus much.

the best way to deal with procrastination is to embrace it. that in itself is very hard to do sometimes, but in the end, i know that if i wait till the last minute to study for a test, i always do just fine, and i always end up spending less time in the long run anyway. done this way, procrastination becomes more a question of whether or not you got the balls to devote yourself to something hard core for an entire night, maybe. the worst thing you can do is tell yourself that you are going to do something that you arent. then, you end up using time you set aside to study to do useless shit, like post on forums. you could be hanging out with friends or doing other productive, meaningful things.

I'm horrible about procrastination, but so far I haven't actually failed anything by procrastinating. However, it seems the older I get the more I procrastinate.

I crammed for an hour between classes for my math midterm, and I got a 95 on it. That was pretty exciting.

I wonder, are there actually people getting constant A+'s in your schools? I mean, is the American school system easier then or something? I have had a lot of smart kids in my class during High School, and a couple who had above an 8 avg on every single course. But never have I seen 1 student getting nothing but 10's over here. And believe me, I do know some real 'nerds', with that I mean people who study basically throughout their school years. So everyday they are doing homework, and reading and studying, etc. But never have I seen it.

didn't read anything in here (cept for that vyk post, god he's awesome)

but heres what my sis told me when she was in college (and I take her word cause she's that honor student that does all her work, and gets good grades while maintaining a job and volunteer services, etc etc... in my family)

As soon as you wake up, don't do anything, don't take a shower, don't brush your teeth, don't eat breakfast, don't do anything but do whatever it is that has to be done for your class. after you get more than at least half of it done, then go do that all that shit you shouldnt do, then go work out, after your workout come back (take a shower) and finish the work (because you still got adrenaline running in you or wahtever), and don't leave your work off for the weekend, cause you'll find it very difficult to do it then.

                            Nice.

Embracing procrastination seems to work pretty well, but I feel like I need less stress in my life (caused by a lot of work in a little time = high pressure). I think I'm gonna try organizing a little better and see how that works out.

honestly, I took the effort to clean up my room and shit, and I was soo fucking proud. I found many things I thought was once lost. getting a little organized once in a while is a good thing.

Yep, but that doesn't mean that American schools are necessarily easier than European schools. I generally don't study for anything - quizzes, tests, exams, etc. I've never gotten below an A- in any class. Granted, I do do my homework though, so in a way that is kind of like studying.

I do find myself reviewing for my college courses though. Not studying per se - my attention span is too short - but I usually read through my notes an hour before a test or exam just so everything is fresh. I don't care about quizzes though
