he said humans would die 4 years after the bees.

also there is a reason other than the destruction of earth why the mayan calendar resets. every of their numbers in the long count describes some asronomical circle. the longest describes as far as i understood it the rotation of the earth's axis which "moves the stars around". which leads to some "cool" phenomenon in 2012 where some eclipse happenes in some strange place. or something like that.

+ because he predicted mad-cow decies before it happend.
          - because there is not a cival war going on in the states, as he predicted.

and perhaps for the fact that they found out who made the scam? that harvard dude or something? Wasn't it the school project to "predict" disasters to happen, and he thought that he might as well make a plot and see how far it would go? it's been too long to remember.

The problem with all of this is that men observe when a thing hits, but not when it misses.

People have been predicting the end of life as we know it for over 2000 years, and not one of them have been right.

ah, thought you meant how this statement was different than 7 years ago...

i find the maya's theory quite interesting though. with the astronomy involved, etc. most likely we shouldnt read 'end' of their calender as end of our world. the calender just has to be a) renewed or b) start from from the beginning.

if you like that maya's stuff, most likely you will like erich von daniken's books too. his whole mayas + ufo stuff :P its fun while you remain scepticle.

                  like any horoscopes:
Onward and upward! It's time to aim at unknown horizons. It's been too long since you've made a choice to do something brave, bold and challenging. It's a little scary at first, but you'll soon start to enjoy the ride.

                    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehova_witness
Early editions predicted that Armageddon would culminate in the year 1914.
skim read the predictions and see how wrong they get it

shit like this happens all the times, now major religions don't touch these predictions with a barge pole cuase it shows up the fact its all nonsense.

                      Example:
If you pass out flyers to 100'000 households, containing sports results.
Pass out different flyers with different results for the same game for 10 weeks.
After 10 weeks you'll have a few households that randomly got the right results each time, and they will believe that you're psychic.

A shitload of relgions/cultures makes a SHITLOAD of predictions.
With so many random predictions about the future, just by chance, a few of the sources will have a few predictions come true.
After those few predictions, you'll have a few assholes going nuts about the predictions, and will run in terror for their next one.

to travel "backwards" in time you'd actually have to travel forward, at a very accelerated speed.

That's interesting, did the sun worshippers actually understand the mechanics
above their sky? How is that date put into our calendar, did the mayans have
a correct calculation of how long a year was? I wish I knew more about the
Native South American cultures' history.. though now I'm busy reading uni stuff

                            ara,

its easier to just look it up through google (maya calendar or something).

Basicly we calculate by rotation of the earth (day), moon (month) and sun (year). They add rotation of the galaxy too.

Which shows that not all people of the world believed that the earth was flat.
