  • The hardest easy geometry problem in the world... please help!

I'm pulling my hair out over this... I can't seem to figure this out at all! And only elementary geometry is required, so I don't see how this works out! And the hints on the website do jack shit... now all I have is a bunch more lines in the triangle that doesn't lead anywhere.

please take a look. if you have the answer PM me so other people can suffer like I did first

Easy when you approach it methodically.

May be a small error here, but if angles are numbered from top to bottom once you get to :

                D1 + E1 = 160
                E2 + D2 = 130
                D1 + D2 = 140
                E1 + E2 = 150

You're quids in. You can then go :

                D1 + E1 = D1 + D2 + 20
                E1 = D2 + 20

                And so on ...

It was really easy when I described angles in terms of x

It's easy to do with geometry + simple algebra....but I think you're supposed to solve it with only geometry. (Stuff like 180 to a triangle or the line intersecting parallel lines thingy).

I just stuffed random numbers into it, and it seemed to work. But since I was doing it all in my head, maybe it didn't

you guys that claim to get it so fast, how are you doing it?

it took me a while... i had to break out my compass =/

i dont think you can do it using only algebra

edit: if i can make it in paint (ugh) ill oput my solution up later

We went to an old family friend's restaurant in Maryland

Here's a hint, lengths of sides on a triangle are proportional to the angle opposite them
