Originally posted by Eric is God View PostZeus, do you live in the UK? I only ask because they might be sending me over there for a week or two so I can train the analysts in the Europe head office about what we do and I need to know what the weather is like and tourist places I can visit in the evening. Thanks.
If you're going out after work with colleagues you'll inevitably get drawn to the nearest All Bar One. If you're a tourist and you want the true London "getting-wasted-after-work" experience then go there, because everyone else does. If you want a quintistential (sp) English pub then try the Devonshire Arms off Piccadilly Circus or the Green Man by Great Portland St station, both nice and not too expensive. There's a cool place in Trafalgar Square but I was pissed and I don't think I even knew the name of the place when I was in there, let alone now. The Bell and Compass on Villiers St do a good comedy night on Friday nights I think it is. The main cinemas are in Leicester Square and are an unbelieveable rip off. I go to the Odeon in Greenwich (home of Greenwich Mean Time) but its in South-East London and not near any train stations so you probably won't end up there.
If you're by yourself and you want to hide yourself away in a nice restaurant then try Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, its got a slightly old-worlde feel to it and is rammed with restaurants, big and small. The London Eye is a must (I still haven't been on it) and we have art gallerys and theatres coming out of our behinds, alongside the usual Towers of Londons and Houses of Parliaments. Clubs I'm not sure on as I don't go out in London (I've 'settled down') but they're horrendously expensive and you'll only go if your work mates drunkly decide to go there post-All Bar One so they'll probably already have one in mind.
The weather is topsy-turvy but hopefully it'll be ok tomorrow as I want to go to Chessington World of Adventures.

Thanks a lot for the info Zeus! I definitely want to get the authentic London pub experience but I get the feeling my counter parts in the London office will decide where I end up after work. I'm making note of all the places you mentioned so I can ask my "co-workers" about them if/when I get shipped off. I just hope they wouldn't take me anywhere to get drunk because I have enough trouble presenting in front of people without having a hangover.

I would probably be asleep that early.
not sure about 7:7:7pm (19:7:7) tho ...
At 7:7:7pm (19:7:7), I was either finishing off my buffet, walking towards my car from the buffet place, heading towards home, or stuck in front of a traffic light.
I had terrific luck on the road, took me 30 minutes to travel to some where that usually took me an hour.

Eric: if you haven't seen any castles, I strongly suggest you go and visit The Windsor castle, it is about an hour's train ride from London and it's the natural habitat of the Queen :fear:☕ 🍔 🍅 🍊🍏

Watched the women's finals @ Wimbledon, did some yard work, replaced a fuel pump on my `65 Land Rover and caught up on some Tivo'd programs of BBQ University & Moral Oral.
Was 777 supposed to actually mean anything? Was a joke to think it would...like anything special happened on 666, 555, 444

Lastly, if you click the middle of Telcat's photos you'll see the train I get to work and back every, single, weekday (maybe not the exact same train but there's a chance I'd have been on that carriage at least once before)Originally posted by Facetiousedit: (Money just PMed me his address so I can go to Houston and fight him)
