Real nerds don't play WoW

They have more important things to waste their time on....

Never played WOW but it sounds like the VIE/SVS times where a high bounty mathered.

Spending 4 hours in a cloak to get 1000 bounty, while having several full freqs to hunt you and eventually you get disconnected or some lame stuff :P

Just to have it said, games where you pay a certain $ per month is worth it.

It's not like you pay them just to sit there and cash in, you pay them to keep creating new content, and to fix bugs, and to host a huge community.

Without any expansions, we went from Onyxia to Naxxaramas. That's 4 huge instances, put out for free, which werern't there when I started to play. For each instance that came out, you saw that they had put more and more time into it.

WoW would have been HORRIBLE without those additions, and they added it in, without charging anything else.

Having the mindset "LOL I DNT WANNA PAY FR A GAEM I ALRDY HAEV!!!11one", is just having NO knowledge of what you actually pay for, and get in return.

Imagine the zone paying 10$ per month, to have a team of professional coders spit out new stuff 10x fast as we're doing today. Maybe even finance a graphic overhaul.

WoW does NOT suck, it is a great game for those who just sits down with it, without being biased either side. Just like every game, players gets tired of it and starts trashing it.

They money bit isn't why i trash it. Subscription based games are not that bad an idea, as long as some of the subscription goes towards improving the game.

I trash it for being an RPG and based on a system where those with the most time/money to burn always win hence it is worthless. The only "skill" in WoW is how much money/spare time you have.

Single player RPG are great because of the story, in multiplayer when there ceases to be a story it becomes somewhat pointless.....

But if people want to play that crap they are welcome. I just can't see where the fun comes in.....

yeah, i liked runescape when it first came out cause of the quests and shit

then they busted it out with the members which i didn't do, then after a while gave it a try liked it and then next thing i know 30 more quests come out of no where to the point of confusion at what to do.

I like to do one quest at a time dammit.

i stopped playing after legends quest (which was primarily around the time when the 3d engine came out which highly disappointed me, I rather play the 2d version)

230 hrs is all? damn i could cash in the yrs i've played ss and get... a whopping 3 players leveled out. i googled it just for fun and it seems that each different hit had a different amt. of time to get to 70 (go figure, i know). the interesting part is all the nerds who say it takes like two weeks to get to lvl 70, but they can do it in ten days (i'd say a couple of months, realisticly). do the math 230 hrs / 10 days = 23 hrs/day. sounds like true nerds to me.

but from what i've seen WoW to me was like Pokemon red/blue. fun to play other people and such, lame as hell to go around killing shitty animals for hours just to level up.

edit: i wonder how many people would play WoW if it was free?? it seems as if everyone who's ever heard of it and likes computer games would at least start an account.

My brother has 4 level 70's, 8 level 60's and half a dozen 20-40 level characters last time I was at home, now THAT'S a time sink. I'm glad I not only stopped playing 18 months ago, but made some cash selling the account. It's a great game, but I'd only start playing again if I lost my job because a schedule of sleep, work, WoW gets depressing.

I'd say you could hit 60 in 3 weeks playing 8 hours a day, so roughly 160 hours. They say it takes about as long from 60-70 as 0-60, so 0-70 should be around 320 hours, assuming you play in a very exp efficient manner.

I know a guy who did 1-70 in 10 days or so on his shaman after TBC was released.

Anyways about WoW. It's fun if you just play it TO HAVE FUN. By this I mean you actually read quest logs and stuff, because there is tons of interesting lore and stories there. If you just grind some boars and never read anything and look everything up from thottbot thinking "omg omg I have to level level level", then yeah it will suck probably. At max level the fun comes from finding the right ppl to play with (might be hard sometimes because of a number of retards) and realising you don't have to be the best, have the best stuff and do everything in game possible. I don't really get ppl claiming it's somehow just a huge time sink and waste of time. You realize all games are essentially just a "time sink and waste of time"? If you don't have fun WHILE playing, then obviously it's not a game for you. Games are for relaxing and entertainment, when you want to "achieve" something go study your homework.

For the record I use to be a "hardcore" raider until I quit almost a year ago. Was main tank in a guild that killed Kel'Thuzad 2nd in Europe and like 5th in the world. Looking back it seems retarded to have spent so much time ingame. Made a nice 1400 euros selling the account thou...

You can still have a lot of fun without spending 15 hours every day there. I actually started to play casually again this summer and I've had a ton of fun so far again leveling my imba gnome warlock (lev 32 now) Never gonna play hardcore again thou (any game). Also single player games just don't get me excited anymore at all. Played some Civ4 which is a fantastic game and all, but it just doesn't seem all that fun to play alone against AI. Don't think I've really played any single player games for years and years now, probably like Baldur's Gate II was the last one I actually played a bit more.

I totally understand why some ppl can't stand it, but that doesn't mean it's a terrible game overall (9 million subs says something as well).

I were a maintank of The Axemen when we really did an effort at C'thun, I basically did nothing but playing WoW.

In TBC I leveled my gnome mage to 70, and played around with it. WoW will always be something that reminds me of my hardcore days, where we were one of the best, to go from that to being a random mage just weren't fun.

It's hardcore or nocore, and I'd rather get hit by a bus than to go hardcore again.
