Visiting London end of September - chime in!

Aleia iacta est, and I'm taking a cheap flight to London on September 21st, staying until the 27th. Who lives there, who can act as a tour guide of sorts (we pay in liquid currency), and what are the places to visit and to miss? I already heard Madame Tussauds is expensive as fuck (70 pounds, what the hell), and that the subway costs around 15 quid a day. Horrible news for a student with a total budget of ~200 EUR including hostel, food and drinks.

All three of us study English, so we should be able to communicate in some way (warranty void if beer count over 5 bottles).

Avoid madame tussards its hell busy in the summer and a massive ripoff. I'm waiting for my friend to get me free entry at xmas $$

Lots of the museums in london are free, tate modern worth a visit if only to laugh at some of the stuff in it.

Avoid buying anything off anyone in the street.

Madame Tussauds isn't £70, I don't know who told you that.

Book online and it's £20 (30€). I am guessing that on the door it's probably about £30.

Subway (I assume you mean the Underground rather than the sandwich shop) costing £15 a day? Whoever told you London's pricing clearly hates the place. The most expensive travelcard (Lets you use Underground, buses and the Docklands Light Railway) is £43 for 7 days, this allows you to travel in Zones 1 - 6. The cheapest 7 day one is £23 which is just Zones 1 and 2. (From here).

Saying that, staying in London for 6 days on 200€ will likely be quite hard.

I just spent 4.5 days in Amsterdam (which seems be similarly priced, perhaps a little more expensive) and that cost me nearly 400€.

Whenever we are in London we just get a day card/week card for the subway and stuff and it really is not that expensive..

And you can come and watch any time you like!

I've been in England once, but everything was 4 times more expensive than on the mainland, so I left and never returned.
