Jerk. They're a metal band from Adelaide (I believe) getting nice airplay on the radio suprisingly. They opened for Disturbed at a gig I went to last month and I was peeved that Disturbed weren't opening for them instead.

On a lighter note, Linkin Park sucks balls.
LP: "Look at us! We're popular enough to do collaborations. Aren't we special?"
    Me:"Yes. Yes you are."

Hoju, you know that lyrics mean nothing..I bet that you sing along to "Maynard's Dick" :P

For the rest of you, I honestly haven't heard of half the bands you speak of...I try not to listen to the radio when I have other means, I don't watch any MTV (they don't play music anyway) this is mainly because today's mainstream music Sucks Ass. Back when Smashing Pumpkins and Soundgarden were on the scene...that's where the scene should still be. All this crap needs to find a drainhole some where.

Mainstream music sucks ass, but Linkin Park has talent and is the best new band that's "popped up on the scene" recently? You make no sense. Linkin Park is awful. Band that is better than Linkin Park: Men At Work. Another band that is better than Linkin Park: Men Without Hats. An actually good band that's better than Linkin Park: The Archers of Loaf. A band that still exists that is better than Linkin Park: McLusky. Linkin Park is the new Korn. There are kids around that I suspect listen to them, but none of them are white trash enough to admit it.

And your point is? The vast majority of music in the past two decades has been manufactured (ever since MTV appeared). Only a few bands have actually played for the sake of playing, not just for fame and fortune.

It seems to me as the only good music worth of listening (from rock's and my point of view) came between ´68-´76 and ´90-´95. Everything else kinda sucked ass, so I'm kinda excpectin new wave of good music in about 7-8 years.
That being said, here are the bands that do it for me:
                  Older ones:

                  Hendrix
                  Groundhogs
                  Janis Joplin

                  Pink floyd
                  Allman bros band
                  Doors

                  Blind faith
                  Cream
                  November
                  King Crimson
                  Atomic rooster
                  Taste

                  Newer ones:
                  Alice in chains
                  Tool
                  Rollins band
                  Soundgarden
                  Kyuss
                  Pantera
                  Primus
                  Pearl jam
                  Rage against
                  Smashing pumpkins

                  Machine head
                  Helmet
                  Dream theater
                  Deftones

                  Acid bath
                  Agents of oblivion
                  Black flag
                  Faith no more
                  Nirvana (non comercial stuff)
Ugly kid joe (menace to sobriety album)
                  Mastodon

You don't know what you're talking about. The vast majority of the music on the radio has been manufactured. Not the vast majority of the music created.

My point is you said they weren't manufactured, and I said they were.

He put Black Flag on there, and Black Flag was 80's music. The Replacements were good, and they were 80's music. Oh, wait, there isn't any good popular music nowadays! ALL music is better than "today's music"...

It'd be unfair to say all 80s music was bad, look at metal, for those that like that type of music it was golden age.
But it did spew likes of wham and mili-vannili
