Though TK, don't get me wrong.... Could you teach it? Sure.... But college is a whole different game (and you know that). The person DTF was talking about went through all the steps to become a teacher, and it really is all about intelligence. If you can go through graduate school and become a teacher, you'll have no problem getting a job.
And, with no racist views attributed, he's asian and good at math.. 'nuff said. With a doctorates in math, what uni wouldn't hire him, regardless of his english speaking skills? Is he hard to understand? Wah. Deal with it, he's your Goddamn professor. I don't think anyone should be sympathetic because you're in a high-up mathmatic course with a teacher with an accent (and most haven't been).
"Deal with it, he's your Goddamn professor."
Isn't the point of school and higher education to enable you to learn? Is it really too much to ask for some of the professors out there with a questional mastery of English to refine it?
And seriously, telling people 'deal with it and stop complaining, pussy..' great advice for today's youth.. no wonder kids look forward to education after high school.
PPS: Incase you were claiming this as fact- graduate and post graduate degrees DO NOT EQUAL intelligence. Sometimes it's quite the opposite.truth about vets vs noobs [clickable]

Guy: What does that SS mean on your car?
Me: Oh, it's the Subspace model. You know, bigger engine, level 3 bombs...

And I agree that degrees don't equal intelligence, however they do equal achievement. And if you have successfully completed the necessary requirements to receive a degree, then I think it can, and generally is, assumed that they have the intelligence/qualifications to teach.
And was more than one thing, butthead.
Edit: And intelligence can't be measured by an hard to understand accent.Last edited by stark; 10-06-2007, 02:03 PM.1: Pasta <ER>> lol we are gona win this bd talking about porn on our squadchat

What do you plan on doing with your film degree?
Last year I was an intern for the University's newspaper. This year I'm a full fledged photographer, but only because they don't have enough interested people. They basically told me that if I wanted to continue shooting and writing for them, I would have to take more Journalism and photography classes...Which means less film classes.Originally posted by ToneWomen who smoke cigarettes are sexy, not repulsive. (of course, I'm not talking about those without the opportunity). No one says "I don't wanna go to college, my teacher could be foreign and hard to understand or ill-qualified".

... but I'll humor you.
Record numbers of youth attend college these days, but only because corporations, banks and colleges are out to make money from them. Colleges keep pushing kids into their systems when many either aren't ready or don't need it.
There are a great many other options for kids these days. Learn a trade, get a certification in something, apprenticeship, military and non profit service...
College IS NOT the only answer for today's youth.
But on the subject of foreign speaking professors- the kids are paying record-breaking amounts of money to attend a college, the professors should possess a skill set appropriate for their audience. In America that means if you are teaching anthing but a language class, speaking English in a manner that can be easily understood is important. Many of these kids are making the most expensive investments of their entire life in paying for college, is this too much to ask for?truth about vets vs noobs [clickable]

But I still find it sad that because it's been such a common practice... people will continue to deal with innefective teachers, simply because they are knowledgable on a certain subject. They are paid to teach... it requires the ability to stand in front of groups of students and effectively communicate to them.
And anyways... are you telling me these kids pay hundreds of dollars to sit in class so they can go out and buy a self-help guide to learn something?truth about vets vs noobs [clickable]
