This makes me think about what my cousin said to me, he has a master degree in psychology, and is still studying. There's a huge need for good psychiatrists, and when there are so many that gets no/too little treatment, shit can happen. I can't help feeling sad for the shooters (and offcourse the victims) as well, since I doubt that any of them would pass a psychic examination prior to their actions.

School Shootings are not just a U.S./North American problem

Nobody likes to hear of a school shooting, especially when lives have been lost. With all the medi attention to the U.S. schools and past shootings, with the slam at the U.S. being that it's due to poor gun laws, I see today that of all places that this could happen was in Finland.

HELSINKI, Finland (CNN) -- At least seven people were reported killed when an 18-year-old gunman opened fire at a school in Finland Wednesday, in a shooting that appeared to have been planned out in graphic videos posted on Internet sharing site YouTube.

Medical officials told CNN affiliate MTV that the headmistress of the school in Tuusula, near Helsinki, was among the dead. It was not clear if the gunman was included in the fatalities.
The shooting, believed to be the first of its kind in Finland's history, was claimed to be the work of Pekka-Eric Auvinen, who has also published a manifesto demanding war on the "weak-minded masses" and pledged to die for his cause.

It's not a nice news story, but obviously this can happen to any country, any town, any school in the North American and European countries. It's not just an american slam anymore due to our gun laws. This is a problem for all communities.

Sipila said that Finland, which has a population of about five million, has around two million firearms, although gun laws are tough. "We do not know where he got it from," he said.

Usually the parents are the ones that are responsible for obtaining the guns as well as ignoring the fact they have a child that openly admires Hitler & Stalin. It just amazes me.

According to press conference, it was his own gun because he was a member of some shooting club thus his hobbies also included shooting.

This is beyond sad. The guy wrote in his e-diary a manifesto about that shooting before he did it. He thought himself as a judge and even a God. What the hell?

I just hope this wont lead to metal detectors, surveillance cameras and guards in Finnish schools.
