  • The Moto Q.. worth it?

    Specs

    newegg price

With the Nokia E-62 discontinued, I've been searching for a good pda-smartphone that can edit word/excell documents. Is the moto Q the way to go, or is there a better solution?

If you absolutely have to edit Excel and Word documents it looks like a good choice. Were you planning to go with AT&T as your carrier? because their GSM 2.5G network is pretty crappy. On another note, the Moto Q Global's specs, look and even it's name are all complete rip offs of the BlackBerry 8830 World Phone (posted a link below) which launched five and a half months ago. Way to stay behind the curve Motorola!

I just purchased the Q and I must say, the battery's a real champ out there, especially when they provide you with two, one slim and one with extra juice.

As for the functionality, I got just what I expected. The suite is nothing unique but it gets the job done, was it really so hard for the curve to just implement editing for docs?

Camera's average and the scheduler was built for the businessman on the go rather than the casual organizer. I'm actually typing form it right now, I'm thinking of purchasing a laser keyboard soon for it.

They gave us Moto Q's at work. It's probably fine if you don't use it in a corporate environment. However if you're receiving work e-mail then that huge battery will last less than 10 hours. It was pathetic. I ended up giving it back to them saying it was more hassle than it's worth. I picked up a Wing on the cheap from T-Mobile and it really highlights just how crap the Q is.

How often does your company allow you to upgrade your device Guru? I can't believe my company makes me wait 18 months for a new device and we frigging make the BlackBerry! I got hired right before we launched new devices to so I got stuck with an 8700 brick which works great but doesn't have features outside of office life. 9 more months till I get a next gen device...
