Found this on gamefaqs, thought some of you might want to check it out--
(following is a cut and paste)
    :::

Ok, well this has to be the best viral campain I have EVER seen for a movie. The websites that they set up are so legitmate, that unless you think about there being an underlying theme, it's just Engrish.

The line We are coming, We'll find you soon!! is just plain scary when you think of how that sounds. Under normal conditions, that would just sound like engrish.

http://www.1-18-08.com/ <- The first site to originate. It only had two pictures before, but now it has a few more. Try clicking on them, moving them around. You can flip the pictures too, and see what's written on the back.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/ <- Offical trailer site. You should watch the main video in large format, and give it about 10 minutes to load. But make sure your headphones are plugged in and turned up before you hit play, eh.

http://www.slusho.jp/ <- The first Viral site I saw. Yes, it's damn random, but has subliminal messages splashed throughout the entire website. Like the We are coming one. Seriously scary if you think of the entire site with the hype behind it.

http://tagruato.jp/ <- The seccond offical Viral site I saw. It's an offical looking site. Just read the english, some of it sounds so seriously wrong. They have a phone number you can call, and a member of a fansite did, over Skype. What you hear in english is this: http://www.archive.org/download/Tagr...to_message_en_ 64kb.mp3 (TRANSCRIPT: Thank you for calling Tagruato. Due to high call volumes, your call has been transferred to an automated answering service. There are no updates at this time. After the tone, please leave a message, and one of our associates will find you as soon as possible.) Doesn't anyone else find the "find you as soon as possible" rather than "call you back/contact you" slightly... odd? The rest of the site is full of oddities like this. And yes, it only works in English. "Ensure your future. Invest in Tagruato." Ensure? Why, are you going to take it awa- OH SHI-

http://jamieandteddy.com/ <- Third Viral site I saw. Click on the picture of the teddy bears and enter in the password: jllovesth

http://www.youcantdrinkjustsix.com/ <- Slusho's catchphrase turned into a URL. Why does it lead you to this website? Is it related...? Who knows...

Well, that's about all I have to say on the matter. It looks like an epic campain, I'm hoping that the movie doesn't fall flat on its face, because the marketing is AWESOME.

http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/ <- Is a good place to read peoples opnions, and gets you really thinking about the movie and what might... happen...
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Slusho is a fake drink that J J Abrams has in his works, I believe. I think it was in Lost, too.

Also, while perusing the interwebs, I came across the new trailer released before Beowulf.

      http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramo...08/medium.html

Oh, and the first look at Mr. Abrams's monster, taken from the new trailer.

edit: Phat was right, so I changed the link.

I know it was a little crazy to get excited about this movie after they released the first trailer, but with the emergence of this one, I can't be the only person who's dying to see this.

It looks pretty sick. Reminds me of this movie I saw the "September Tapes". Of this guy who went around Afghanistan hunting down Osama Bin Laden. Cool fight scenes from the view of a guy with a hand held camera.

I'd like to think this is it. Probably just fan-made though.

Is the movie gonna be like this? The hand held camera style, shocky or is that just the trailer?

                (awesome quality on apple btw.)

And I dont get this viral marketing thing.. I mean I dont see anything in those websites.

The whole movie is shot on hand held camera from the point of view of a group of survivors. It should be a less shaky, Blair Witch Project, shot on digital film.

I personally think the hand held survivor perspective is the most intriguing aspect.

at the risk of sounding like a loser, that Thing looks a LOT like 'Sin' from FFX.

couldn't find a better picture sadly.

But its not as shaky and all over the place as the trailer? Cause if the whole movie would have the all over the place camera work as in the trailer it would, imo (but you are majoring in this not me), be hard to follow. It is an interesting and intriguing aspect about this movie, definitely, and probably makes the movie better than normal camera work. But I hope just a bit more steady camera work without losing the whole hand held effect.

Have you seen City of God?

                          http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0317248/

If not watch it ASAP, because aside from being one of the best films of this generation, it's about 75% hand held camera. If done right, it can make for a very urban quick paced and claustrophobic mood. If done wrong however, you can leave the theater feeling queezy.

I know shaky cam adds a realistic feel to some movies but I'm one of the 5-10% of people that gets nauseous trying to watch movies shot this way. My friend and I couldn't watch the car chase scene at the end of the second Bourne movie because our stomachs just couldn't take it. I hope hollywood doesn't start applying this style to too many movies because I've decided they aren't worth the risk for me.
