Physical evidence? What does it prove? Does it prove a hypothesis or theory or a documented history supposedly related to that object? It merely proves that the artifact certainly does exists in a tangible form. Does every student with the desire to understand need to see this object firsthand to prove its existence and the historical events related to said object? Are photographs and motion pictures of said object sufficient proof of its existence and the history therein? Apparently not by the standards of many of the members of this forum.
Are educational institutions any different in their methods? Most educators never go beyond the experience of the classroom and the 'selected' text and materials they have learned to recite and describe in an instructional manner. In order for students to graduate from any given lesson, it is required of them to regurgitate the information back to the instructor in a fashion which gives the instructor the confidence that the student has competently ingested and understood the concepts taught therein.
In the video link posted by Tone, many of these people giving their testimony are experts in their field, working (or retired) in the environmental 'field' of their expertise where they had their experience. Which in my opinion, says more about their credibility than most classroom instructors.

And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. (Lk:16:31)
...And the resolute attitude one should take upon encountering one with such close-mindedness is given in this verse:But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. (1Cor:14:38)
