If you liked the movie but were dissapointed in some aspects of it...
Watch the original movie adaptation/inspired-by based on this novel- It's called 'Last Man on Earth,' starring Vincent Price. Yes it's an old b/w movie with a shoestring budget.. BUT, it has fucking VINCENT PRICE in it. The storyline takes a little more time explaining what happened ... the monsters are zombie/vampire hybrids (afraid of garlic, sensitive to light but stupidly slow) but I think it follows fairly close to the book (compared to say the later two films)... I consider it a classic of the horror/sci-fi sort.
The film is actually public domain now.. so you can see it online HERE
Also worth seeing (though much more LOOSELY based on the book) is 'Omega Man,' starring Charlton Heston. Basically it's what you would expect from a movie starring Charlton Heston. He shoots shit. But it's also inspired by 'I am Legend' and isn't half bad (as long as you don't expect it to be that close to the book).
The book itself is a great read.. I highly recommend it as well. I'm sure you can find a used copy for a few bucks somewhere.
Oh and I liked the Will Smith version. Ending was weak compared to earlier films.. but perfectly acceptable in my book.

I saw in Wikipedia the short plot of the story, sounds intreseting. But I must say Its remind me a bit the movie "28 days later" which was a great movie, mostly because of the psychology between the characters.
That's what actually made me want to see this movie even more. At the end of the book, Neville ends up being the villain because he begins to become a killing machine, therefore becoming said 'legend'. I was expecting Agent J to go on a mass, vampire murdering spree.
Yeah I started reading the book last night and it's totally different. They are vampires, Neville hangs garlic and mirrors around his house and goes around staking the vampires during the day, he is nowhere near to being a scientist, and he even has creepy lustful thoughts about the female vampires...the writing was kinda strange too.
I did only read the first 4 chapters and then I stopped--perhaps it gets better.
it was pretty ok. But I didn't know there was a book for this... I should probably read that. I'm a sucker for the whole zombie/virus outbreak scenarious.
just as a forewarning, the book is absolutely NOTHING like the movie (go figure). in the book they're straight up vampires.
Take that from the 'super emo kid' who was annoyed thta you posted a spolier in a thread that says no spoiler. But I guess since you're following me around trying to post in my threads, that that emo kid must be you. I expect you're rebuttal whenever it is you get unbanned.
his rebuttal is just gonna say "your" and then what are you gonna do
