The monster stands for terrorism and the scenes are copied right from 9/11 footage. LOL
And nickname, Marlene is a boozing chick that's obviously bored with life. Of course she'd go with her friend.

I didn't expect what I got. My main gripe isOriginally posted by Squeezer View PostI don't understand what you expected. If you paid attention during the first minute of the movie, you could pretty much figure out how it was going to end.
They just hide under a bridge and die? What kind of shit is that? Not only that but I sat through those credits for a shitty audio clip?
I didn't want the movie to be resolved with the monster dying and an eagle draping the american flag over it's carcass or something, I was actually glad the monster was winning. It just seems cheap in my opinion to kill all the characters at the end and fade to black.

I've got to agree, I saw the ending coming. I didn't see some of the who lives vs who dies but I did see what would happen to the monster.

It's broken $41 million already. It supposedly took less than $30 million to make so yeah. J.J. Abrams is a genius.
Not to mention that the Star Trek spoiler gave all the Trekkies in the audience an orgasm.

Cloverfield in terms of the movie, is the government designated name for the "event."Originally posted by Nickname View Postit was called Cloverfield because that was the addresse of the company when they made it -- or something like that. Not a big deal LB, don't know why you whited it
The origin of where they got the title comes from the street that Bad Robot, JJ Abrams' production company, originally resided.
I think it's somewhere in SoCal.

EDIT- Meant to say Marlena instead of Beth.
Went to the 10:30 showing on opening night. The theater was packed so I had to sit in the second (yes second) row from the screen. It was probably one of the worst places to sit to watch this type of movie, but I had just gotten back from Maryland doing some drunk bowling with some people so it didn't bother me.
Like I said above, I had a few before I saw this movie and the camera motion didn't bother me, but the people I saw it weren't with me at the bowling, so they were sober and it did fuck with their heads.
I liked the movie, well most of it. It was pretty good, the cameraman (Hud) carried the movie with the funny comments. Anyone else realize his name stands for "heads up display"? Pretty ironic since he has the camera for most of the time. The tension and action were good, but I just didn't like the ending. I think it was balls, and not a good setup for the sequel. I waited through those 5 minute long credits for some sneak peek at the end or something else, and all we got was that shitty 2 second audio clip. Pretty fucking weak if you ask me. If there is no sequel, then the ending was even worse than I'm thinking. White text ahoy-
Seriously, wtf? Why did they have to kill HUD? He was fucking awesome.
Those pulsating sacs weren't the monster's eyes, they were weird brain sacs above the eyes. You can tell the monster has beady black eyes when HUD finally stares up at the beast. I didn't catch the thing falling into the water at Cony island, but one of my buddies sitting next to me did.
I don't know what the whole "bitten" thing was about either, but Marlena sure did get fucked up by that baby alien. I'm surprised they didn't bite HUD either. Anyone else wonder how Lily (indian chick, Jason's girlfriend) was walking throughout the movie with heels on? Like she followed Rob throughout New York in high heels, wtf. That's some crazy shit, son.
Also is it's named Cloverfield because that's where it first hit in New York?

The beginning was too long.
That's my only complaint.
Don't see this with High Schoolers in the same theater as you, it ruins it completely. When the film ended, some kid just said "FUCK THIS MOVIE. FUCK THEIR SORRY ASSES." And I shouted back, "GET YOUR G.E.D. ASSHAT."
