Nah, I didn't see that, phata. I got there early, but not early enough and I had to sit near the front and to the left a bit. Still a good view, but could have been better. So I probably missed it.

She suffered a complete puncture through her shoulder area, enough so that she lost consciousness. Would she have been running anywhere? Probbaly not, but with her addrenaline pumping she may have come around, and it would have been with a monster chasing her. For the first while after they pick her up she's always right beside rob as he's helping her move, it's only later she starts to run. It's a tad unrealistic but nothing brutal.

I couldn't stand the blair witch project either, but I was advised to sit near the back of the movie theater for this movie specifically. We did, and it was surprisingly comfortable.

We sat near the back as well and I never felt queasy. No one left early in our theater, though that could be because the place was packed with fanboys. When the action picked up, the handy cam seemed like the necessary way to tell the story. It's hard to explain, but it begins to feel right after a while.

Are you serious about the thing above? I might have to go see it again today.

edit: I just remembered a spoiler I wanted to talk about.

One thing I found kind of lame was how quickly Beth recovered from having re-bar removed from her shoulder, and that she was still able to run to the evacuation site. Then again, it is a movie.

My favorite bit you see of the monster is definitely when Rob and the others are trying to get into the Subway. I jumped a foot when the monster's head popped out of flames.

Just called a few friends, I guess we're going to go see it again tonight.

I'm not a big monster movie guy but I quite liked it. Surprisingly, it had some pretty funny moments, as the camera man was more than a bit of an idiot. Theres a few plot holes in my opinion that could have been covered with just like two more lines of dialogue but never do. Highlight the white text below if you want to know what I mean.

After the brother dies, and Rob goes after Beth, Lilly, Hud ?) and the other chick go after her. Now, I can see why Rob would, and even why Lilly would, because all they needed to say 'This has alreayd killed Jason, I won't let it kill beth too / I won't let him die without a reason' or something along those lines. Hud follows because he's an idiot, but there really is no reason as to why the girl follows, unless she's just a coward to go off alone. That seems unlikely considering she saves Hud later.

Hey, back to black text! Ok, the Monster was cool looking because he was different looking. Without going into it too much his legs were sort of Crab like, which was a cool twist. It's hard to explain in text, but they shoot outwards before going down. Even spider like if you will. It seems to me to be setting up for a sequel for sure, as it leaves you with a lot of questions. Worth seeing. Here comes more white text on my theory on the monster.

So my theory on the monster is that it's obvious some deep sea lifeform/crab thing that breathes water (as is seen by it's breathing sack thing when it looks at Hud). Assuming it has a lifespan of several thousand years that would easily explain why no record exsists of it, because 2k years ago 'Monsters' were all over the place, right? Anyways, the little ones are it's babys, the entire reason for it attacking New York is for feeding. If you're going to hatch a shitload of babies than are carnivores and can fend for themselves from birth, then why not give birth to them over a plentiful food supply? That's why it attacked a major city, to better insure that it's young would be sufficiently Fed. Now, the only part this doesn't explain is what the hell was up with the chick that exploded? Now that could be some sort of 'Alien' style birthing of inserting a young into a human, because we did see a marine with it's stomache gone, but clearly she exploded, and the marine didn't. More likely the marine was half eaten, and I just can't explain the explosion. I don't think it gave birth to a new little one, as the guys that took her didn't have any guns. More than likely it's some way of disabling prey that somehow escapes, so you can eat it later. My theory also covers why there were very little of the little guys anywhere near beth, as the food supply had been used up and was running away, so they followed it. Just my thoughts.


EDIT: btw, I sat near the back of the theatre, and saw nobody complaing about getting sick or anything of the like. When in doubt, you knew it was a hand held camera, so you should have sat in the back.

Are you fucking serious? My friend seemed to be the only one who caught that and we were all calling him a liar. God, I'm so angry if I really missed that.

I loved the movie. If you didn't like the shaky camera and the ending; and you knew that it was all going to be shot through a "hand-held" camera; then why the fuck would you watch it? It was everything I expected and I enjoyed the experience. I'm definitely going to be watching it again just to catch all of the shit I missed.

ok i just saw it - it's worth seeing, but if blair witch's shaky camera while running around didn't do it for you, well, this isn't your movie. The monster didn't impress me that much. But the experience was immersive enough to make me forgive a lot of how's and why's and what's.

They captured it perfectly. I felt on the edge of my seat the whole time, it was incredibly intense. Based on the ARG, I knew it was going to leave me with questions, and it did a great job of it.

Possible spoiler:
at the end of the credits, there's someone talking into the camera after it's been retrieved and malfunctioned to record backwards. The guy is saying "It's still alive." O_O

Anyone else notice at the end of the movie when they're on Conny Island, there's something that falls out of the sky and into the ocean?

When the movie ended, someone in the theater was like, WHAT THE FUCK.

I had a similar feeling. Of all the 8 secs the monster came on in the movie, 5 of those were blurred by the video camera. I still dont know what the monster looks like. The video camera gave half the people in the theater seizures (as can be seen when ppl repeatly rub their eyes, hunch over, and leave the theater).

Horrible plot. I won't say anything but my 9 year old cousin can come up something as geniune as the Cloverfield plot. I give credit for the hand-held video, but dont EVER do that SHIT again. I ended up wanting to puke over the movie (several times).

I realize some might be excited over the suspense and the movie, but as of this moment, cloverfield is ranked #1 on my "worst movie of the century" list; Godzilla was infinitely better.

Succinctly, WHAT THE FUCK.
