of course there are tons of local pizza places that do something special
ledo's around here will put pre-cooked bacon on a pizza, pre-cooked bacon with black olives is amazing

peperoni, itilian sausage (spicey), meatball, stuffed crust and anchovies yeah thats right anchovies I eat all kinds of fishie things and pizza is no exception.

btw as far as thin crust goes you can dip a cracker in sauce and get the same results
